if i made a horror game it would either turn out super good or really bad
i'd make the horror element primarily a bunch of arbitrarily dicerolled sounds that trip based on where you are in a room
so like, you walk across the room and turn the camera to look at a painting, the game rolls the dice internally, and randomly selects to honk a bike horn on the other side of the room
knowing me i wouldn't be able to stick to the horror genre and there'd be like stock animal noises and wilhelm screams and the space kook laugh from scooby doo in there though
maybe you're a paranormally-minded landlord coming to check on a noise complaint only to have the door snap shut behind you so you gotta figure out what this noisy ghost is up to and why it won't leave
huh that might not be so bad actually
sometimes i check out the scp foundation (that's the secure, contain, protect fictional organization that houses a bunch of wacky creepypasta nonsense)
it only ever gets (much) worse
but there's something really entertaining about reading what basically amounts to bad horror fanfics
i am terrible at dealing with actually scary things but i'm writer enough that i can home in on the goofy parts and that takes the scary away
re: that lemony snicket letter post
the missing letters spell out "olaf nearby"
i know this might sound a little unusual but like
big storms really help with how i feel
it doesn't like, pull the veil of my depression away or anything like that
but hearing the rain and the thunder just puts me at ease somehow
god i love how the dr. fate uniform is the same no matter who's wearing it
it looks so good and dr. fate is the scariest idea for a hero ever
(it's a cosmic entity bound to a helmet that possesses the body of the wearer, giving the entity the power to project magic out of their body while their consciousness is safe and sound inside the helmet)
(it's REALLY weird and scary but I find it so darn interesting)
