He blinked a few times. Was she spacing out? And why wasn’t she annoyed? It was very rare that he came across someone who wasn’t irritated with him right away.
“Where ya from, miss?”

Link is off playing with the kids again. Something so fun about shooting rocks at trees... Epona doesn’t get it. She manages to sneak away, though, Link too busy climbing up a tree to fix a target to notice her walking into town.
It’s almost second nature for her to head towards the house that smells of Ilia, and once she spots the young woman, she blows and gently nickers at her. She’s gotten a bit dusty as of late; rolling around and romping with the goats never left her clean. And Ilia gives the best baths...! At least someone will give her attention!

“WHAT DID I DO?! Is this about the one time I scared the living daylights out of Ilia?! I SAID I WAS SORRY OKAY!!!”

It was certainly an oddity, a seven foot tall armored figure standing to speak such philosophical concerns aloud. That coupled with the immensely young voice emerging from within, it shouldn’t have been a combination suited to the way he presented himself. And many treated him with the caution that should have come with his appearance. Like he was dragging war to their shores. But surely no one who spoke such words aloud could be terribly bad? Only.... contemplative. Carefully considering all there was to know, even those things that had no real answers.
But everyone had a word to give here and there. Life experience helped with that. Even when they didn’t quite know what to say in response.
“I’m sorry for seeming like such a downer. I’m not always like this. But sometimes those thoughts can weasel their way in against the will.” No matter the attempts to stave it away.
“My name’s Alphonse.” He held up a gloved hand, fingers extending in swift succession as he tacked off facts about himself. “I’m fourteen, I’m a traveler from a distant realm in search of knowledge!” A traveling scholar in armor. Well, those were trying days after all, weren’t they?

The morning was young and gentle, the soft light of sunrise bathing the forest in a serene golden glow. Epona was by his side, already used to being awake so early; their work required wakefulness of them when only the birds and their wards were awake. He had no doubt that Fado had already let out the goats without waiting for him -- it wasn’t as though he had to watch the creatures every moment of the day! A little laziness never hurt anyone. He took his time walking through the town, Epona snorting softly at him. The sound of her noisy breaths and their footfalls were the only break in the sunrise stillness.
Ah -- but what was this out of the corner of his eye? an opening door? He paused, holding Epona steady with her bridle in his hand, turning to face the source of movement. The mayor’s door. But Bo was never awake so early, so... “G’mornin’, Ilia.” An immediate grin spread across his soft features, seeping its happiness into his voice. “Yer up mighty early, huh?”

Trees. Trees. . . More trees. Surely there had to be more to these woods then trees and shrubbery. It had been far too long since he and Destiny had strayed from the path. Long since he’d seen the winding cobbled road or even a small sign. Perhaps it would have been worrisome to another - but to him it simply added to the adventure. A quest that he was determined to complete for his dear mother. . .
Granted she never did quite say what it was he sought in these lands. Only that she needed it to ensure a healthy reign for their kingdom.
No matter the cause, Edward pressed onward with a chin held high and a proud smile to match it. How could he feel anything but joy in such lovely woods and surroundings? It was a beautiful foreign land and he intended to make the most of his quest. Save a damsel or two. Solidify his position as a truly wonderful Prince in the eye of the common folk. The very idea of it all made his chest swell and a delighted laugh burst forth.
“ Destiny - though lost we may be -- the company of one another will surely get us somewhere! Do not fret, old friend. We’ll find a river to rest at soon enough, ” came the boisterous words from the Prince as a gloved hand patted the pristine mane of his mare. A simple snort was all he received as they wove between the greenery, movements precise and natural in spite of the foreign terrain. With nothing but the wind and sound of distant animals to accompany him, Edward filled the calm of the clearing with a wordless melody. Simply singing to the audience of he and Destiny, with the odd lyrics of true love’s kiss interwoven between each prolonged note.
