But the new First Lady of Bob Jones University, Ellen McAllister, is aghast. "Adam is as ethical a man in politics as you will ever find," she insists.

South Carolinians are asking good questions? How?

My fellow South Carolinians or if you're just bored, contact this school and ask them how can you get a degree that normally takes two years in just six months like the unqualified candidate of SC state superintendent of education, Ellen Weaver? I've already contacted them. Because I'm genuinely curious. I mean can I just get a PhD in six months? Can I just skip huge components normally required? They are allowing Weaver to skip doing her capstone project. This is not right.

I believe Ellen Weaver is a puppet and those who want to dismantle public education and prioritize private schools are working really hard to get her elected. SC's government may truly be corrupt. This is going to hurt many children in this state and mainly those of color and of poverty. And we're about to have a lot more poverty in this state due to the recent Roe V Wade decision. One of my classes had us going over data and just in St. Andrews, we have about 20% living below poverty.

If you're a parent or auntie/uncle the upcoming election in November should be very important to you. There is a lot at stake.

There is so much at stake.

BJU Graduates in good standing are mad too:

Bob Jones University either you have totally devalued the rigor and value of your master’s degrees or you have bowed to political expedience in taking the steps to confer a master’s degree in what will be only 6 months that Weaver is supposed to finish your program. Remember your founder said, “It’s never right to do wrong in order to get a chance to do right.” In my 7 years as a student and faculty member there, you NEVER conferred a masters degree in 6 months to a full time student much less one who is politically campaigning and working part time to finish a master’s degree.🤥

Again, the rigor and value of your programs could have drastically declined since I was there, so I’d love to hear more about how you justify this 6 month master’s degree! If you wrongly grant it, you have TOTALLY devalued all the students you forced to work hard to truly EARN their degree from your school! I guess you no longer “do right till the stars fall” unless it fit’s your agenda and expedience.

So the “media” according to BJU -- but in actuality it’s all South Carolinians who care about education -- forced BJU’s accreditors to inquire about the nature of SC GOP candidate Ellen Weaver’s master’s program.

Steve Pettit stated on Thursday, August 11, 2022, that BJU “submitted a report” to SACSOC the first week of August.

SACSCOC has not yet responded.

But we were part of this! We were part of oversight. BJU thinks we’re the villain. But we’re so not!

That's what he told The State yesterday:

"Ellen Weaver has completed all the academic requirements for the Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Bob Jones University,” Page said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. “Weaver’s diploma will be presented on Friday, December 16, 2022, but she has completed all requirements and earned her Master of Science degree.”

And the scrutiny is making BJU rather huffy:

I encourage you to call BJU and ask for the accelerated Masters program. They will tell you to call Ellen Weaver’ campaign and then hang up. I guess the 6 month option is not for the public. I also asked to audit the classes. I was told they would not answer anymore of my questions.

We got this reply from Robert D. Cathcart III, Weaver’s communications director:  “Please find our on the record statement below: ‘Ms. Weaver is on track to earn her Master’s degree by mid-October.’”

Thanks, Robert.  That’s not too helpful.  Bob Jones University spokesman Randy Page said Friday he couldn’t answer all of the questions due to privacy regulations, but confirmed Weaver is in the graduate online degree program.  “BJU does not currently award credit through prior learning assessment,” he said. 

This reticence is, quite frankly, an affront to all South Carolina voters.  When candidates run for public office, they willingly inject themselves into public debate and scrutiny.  By not providing details of her qualifications on a degree that she just started, Weaver’s campaign is simply thumbing its nose to voters and saying, “Trust me.”  

So what's the deal, BJU?
