every time i see those pages from schism #2, i’m stuck between two emotions:

1) aww scott being defensive of logan

and

2) jesus fucking christ quentin you look like you’re twenty.  sit down.  you’re like, fifteen or something, and you spent the last couple years in a jar.

i'm just amazed by how absurd the plots of some comic arcs are when you think about them. like.... schism is basically 'a pack of hellishly wealthy evil twelve year olds use a reckless fifteen year old and a couple giant robots to break up the x-men' and messiah complex is 'cable stole a baby'

tfw too many feels about betrayal and martyrdom and stuff re: the schism and ensuing plotlines it’s a very biblical feel

i just want to point out that during the schism the x-men were broken apart by a bunch of evil twelve year olds with a giant robot. literally. twelve year olds. giant robot.

no but seriously the schism is my favorite x-event that i've read so far because, like, the tragedy of it is that neither scott nor logan is wrong. they're both absolutely right -- generation hope needs to be trained to protect themselves, yes, but they also need to be protected, and their safety prioritized over everything. scott sees the big picture -- he wasn't much older, if at all, than these kids when he became an x-man, and these kids WANT to fight and defend utopia. plus, politically, they need that physical base of operations and power. losing utopia isn't an option. logan sees the personal, he sees the risks and he sees how idie is so afraid after what she did at the museum and he needs to protect them all. if that means blowing up the island to blow up the sentinel then so be it, so be it. and yes, their lives are even more important, on a grand scale, because they are generation hope, they're the first since the birth of hope spalding in alaska. it's a catch-22. risk the kids to save the island, destroy the island to save the kids. both choices are right. and it breaks my heart that it broke them apart. i'm so upset. help.

also, like can we talk about the fact that scott is talking to his dead mother and he refers to logan as 'the best measure of everything i do' like, that ain't something you call someone in front of your mother unless you are r e a l l y close to that someone.
