2. At what age did you first realize that you like girls?
Age 14, after getting home from summer camp and realizing just how much I missed my Best Camp Friend(TM) Shelby. Who would shortly thereafter become my first girlfriend.
29. Have you ever been to a pride festival?
Yes, once. I went to NYC Pride 2014 because I was in the city doing a summer intensive at AADA at the time. We had a good time, but I have to say, the high-intensity dance party atmosphere started to grate on me after a while. I later described it as “being hit by a rainbow bus.” I don’t really go to bars or clubs in my free time, so Pride can be a bit tiresome for me if I’m there too long. Also after a while I just want to see something rainbow without a logo on it (though my thoughts about corporations at Pride are more complicated than just “they should always be there” or “they should never be there”). The atmosphere of camaraderie is nice, though?
36. Who is your favorite LGBT celebrity?
I guess Natasha Negovanlis, because she played my favorite LGBT fictional character? But I don’t really keep track of celebrities’ personal lives, unless someone does something really heinous and I stop supporting their work as a result. So I don’t really have a favorite based on personality. She was pretty nice the time I met her and she seems like a generally good person. Plus she noticed that the painting used in the Carmilla movie had an anachronistic hairstyle, which I appreciate.
