You're giving her 2 hours of free babysitting every week! This is what it means when we say, "it takes a village".
Slenderman is a tall good boy and there’s nothing wrong with tormenting and killing amateur filmmakers
What did amateur filmmakers ever do to you
I live in New York City
This is why we can never let local news die. Commitment to the bit as an art form must survive
I'd say this is an anomaly but seriously roos are sometimes nosy and just need to be in your business, OR they will fight you if you look at them funny. I love them, they're great, but they make little sense.
The fucking horror I felt in my soul of the 3 seconds it took to try to and work out what the fuck this animal was
Halal movie night follow up
Always bear in mind that there is absolutely no legitimate evidence that Luigi was actually the one who killed the insurance company guy.
Of course he wasn't. He was at a party with me that day.
No but like literally, actually. All bits aside.
He didn't do it.
The cops very clearly planted evidence on him because they had to make an arrest because all eyes were on them and whoever actually did the deed was making them look stupid.
Why would the real killer hero have kept the weapon on his person and traveled two states over while carrying it and a manifesto in his bag, conveniently turning the crime into a federal matter? The same guy whose bag they found in a park, filled with monopoly money? Why did the police turn off their bodycams, take Luigi's stuff, drive a block away, turn their bodycams back on, go back into the restaurant, and then arrest him?
From the moment of his arrest, even left-of-center media has been presuming his guilt without examining anything (e.g. calling him "the killer" instead of "alleged" or "accused") and then when I say he didn't do it, the nearest person chimes in with some quip that tells me they think he did do it but should go free anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would have the same attitude if he had done it. But he didn't. It makes me feel like the only sane person in the world, even among my staunchly leftist friends.
“everyone is mad at me and they just won’t tell me” —> “no one has said anything about being mad at me and i haven’t done anything to warrant being mad at so if someone is silently fuming about me and not saying anything that’s their problem and actually quite weird of them and i can effortlessly move on with my life”
this took SUCH a huge deal of unlearning because, like so many of you, i came out of a home where being quietly in trouble WAS the default state, and i DID grow up not just with the assumption but borderline religious conviction that Everyone Is Mad At Me, I Am Bad, I Must Exist In A Constant State of Attempting to Pacify The Natural Rage I Inspire In Everyone. and no it actually turns out that my family are the freaks . and yours are too
“this isn’t true because i DEFINITELY silently fume at people in the hopes they’ll figure out what they did and apologize” that’s not good. you shouldn’t do that
“this isn’t true because the ex-friendship that traumatized me ended explosively after they were mad at me and never told me why” that’s not good. they shouldn’t be doing that
“i don’t think this is true because my current friend group is constantly icing me out until i figure out what ive done to upset them and properly apologized without being told” hey thats not good. they should not be doing that
if the peacefulness of your relationship with someone (familial, romantic, friendly, anything) can be destroyed by effective communication/asking them for effective communication, you have got to get out of there. if you can’t get out of there, you’ve got to throw away any ideas about what that person thinks of you because they have their own shit to figure out before they can accurately read anyone else
ITS GREAT LAKES AWARENESS DAY!!!!!
On this excellent day, be aware that this is the largest group of freshwater lakes in the world, covering over 95,000 square miles and reaching depths of over a thousand feet. They are beautiful freshwater seas.
Also when you die in these lakes, the very cold, oxygen-poor conditions at the bottom preserves you perfectly for all eternity. You will not rot and nothing will eat you. You will exist for as long as the Great Lakes do. Many shipwrecks still have the crew on board. Be Aware.
that last paragraph only applies to Lake Superior, the northernmost Great Lake! to be fair though, Superior is bigger than all of the other Great Lakes combined.
and that's not to say that the other Great Lakes aren't equally dangerous! each of these things earned the 'Great' descriptor for a reason, and the only reason they aren't all classified as inland seas is because they're not salty.
Lake Michigan in particular is really good at creating waterlogged corpses and hiding them in weird places, and every single Great Lake is full of shipwrecks and ghost stories.
and you know what? 10/10 I would let these things eat me anyways.
be aware!
fun optional addition, LAKE SUPERIOR VS THE EAST COAST
you could drown an entire small country in this thing
No PSA About the Great Lakes is complete without The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald:
one really really really funny thing you realize when you are studying history is that people pretty much always desperately wanted to post online and would have been soooooo fucking crazy on here. i wish hildegard of bingen was oomf
Btw I loooove starting a post like "also" "by the way" "and another thing" when there was fully no conversation or preceding thought. U will experience my posts en media res

We’ve been looking at it wrong this whole time.

In my opinion, Bill Watterson deserves way more credit as one of the great paleoartists.
He did not need to go this hard, but he did, and he has my everlasting respect for that.
How could you leave out this???
Also I recall in the foreward of one of his big Calvin and Hobbes collection volumes, he wrote a bit about how his knowledge and portrayal of dinosaurs shifted over time as he wrote the comic. Watterson's early dinosaurs were very stereotypical reptilian monsters inspired by the dinosaurs he loved in his childhood:
As he continued work on the comic he researched further into modern dinosaur science of the time, which just so happened to be the height of the Dinosaur Renaissance in the 1980s and 90s. Dinosaurs were being reenvisioned as active, warm blooded, successful animals, and Watterson made an amazing effort to include accurate anatomy and scientific understanding where he absolutely could have just stuck to what he was familiar with. Instead, he created incredibly vivid and real-feeling depictions that absolutely belong alongside the works of other revolutionary palaeoartists of the 80s and 90s like Mark Hallett, Greg Paul and John Gurche.
