GUYS IMPORTANT PLEASE VOTE ON THIS POLL IT'S FOR A SCHOOL PROJECT I NEED THE DATA FOR THIS REALLY BADLY PLEASE
Did you have LGBTQ+ representation in sex-ed? Was it accurate or did it perpetuate stereotypes and misinformation?
Yes, and it was accurate.
Yes, but it was inaccurate.
No, there was no LGBTQ+ representation in sex-ed.
Please please please vote, I'm doing a speech on why we need better and mandatory LGBTQ+ rep in sexual education for my leadership class.
reasons for why I'm doing my speech on this: I heard two 6th graders talk about a hypothetical person they would marry, they were asking those eraser things that you flip with yes and no on them and asked if the person they'd marry would be a woman, it landed on yes, and then asking if they'd be trans, when the eraser landed on yes, they began referring to them as an 'it' and said: "oh, so it's just a man then."
By grade 6 you should know that that's not true?? Or okay to say out loud??? my school likes to say it's diverse and accepting, but I've seen people glare at the GSA slides in the morning announcements, I've seen kids stop being friends with someone because they were gay, I've seen people being deadnamed, people being outed, people using 'gay' as an insult, and I really do wonder where they got the notion that they were accepting from. I mean, it could be worse, but it SHOULD be better.
so yeah anyway please vote in my poll it'd make me sososososo happy, (only if you want, but I am urging you to) please!!!
A dad asked Trump what he would do to help "failing" public schools. Trump said he would stop them from transitioning kids.
Greg Owen at LGBTQ Nation:
In video shared by Fox News on Monday, Donald Trump again claimed schools around the country are “taking” kids and performing “operations” on them. “There are some places your boy leaves the school, comes back a girl,” Trump insisted without proof. “Okay? Without parental consent. What is that all about? That’s like — when they talk about a threat to democracy, they’re a threat,” Trump continued, apparently referring to his Democratic opponent and clearly rattled that her message about his authoritarian nature and cognitive decline are taking hold.
In a rambling answer to a Bronx dad at what the New York Post described as a “surprise” visit to a barbershop packed with Black men who support Trump, the former president, slumped in a barber chair, held forth incoherently on his solution for problems at America’s schools: stopping teachers and administrators from transitioning kids. All of this was in response to the dad’s question about how Trump would help Bronx public schools perform better – the dad didn’t mention trans kids at all. “Could you imagine without parental consent? At first, what I was told that was actually happening, I said, you know, it’s an exaggeration. No. It happens! It happens in areas where it happens. We’re not going to let it happen, but we are going to straighten out a lot,” Trump said, untethered from the facts or syntax.
[...] “I never saw – you don’t need any of them. You know, I want one person and a secretary to just make sure they’re teaching English. Okay. Give a little English,” he said. “Okay? I say reading, writing, and arithmetic. No transgender, no operations.”
Donald Trump pushing anti-trans nonsense yet again, this time by falsely asserting that public schools are helping kids transition and perform gender-confirmation surgery operations.

"There aren't that many search results for your request"
Yeah, Google because it was a specific piece of information I was looking for. Which is why I used operator keys to force your search function to narrow the results down and only show me results that included all the bits of information I was looking for because similar items without all of these specific details aren't relevant to what I'm trying to learn. You are a search engine godammit and you will act like one!
As a side note, specificity in your requests and properly framing your searches/questions is going to become an increasingly important skill in the next decade as algorithmic chat functions are fully integrated into things like Google Assistant and Bing and Alexa or what the fuck ever.
Like I refuse to actively interact with the "AI" chatbots, but I will concede their novelty, their utility and their inevitability. As such, knowing how to properly navigate them is important. What I did above searching on Google, wouldn't necessarily work in ChatGPT or something similar. And I think we need to start advocating that these skills start getting introduced to school curricula (ideally as part of library functions because they were the ones that taught basic computer information searching when I was in school and it shows how critical their role is to schooling while lessening the burden on regular teachers)
How to build a strong nation?
