Batman Vol 1 (1940) 383

We continue in Batman Vol 1. We begin with Bruce being incredibly beat after four nights without sleep and ready to kiss his pillow when Jason excitedly tells him that the school bus broke down and Bruce can quiz him on the way to school now. Oh joy, indeed. Continuing the trend of Evil Social Workers™, one of Jason’s teachers takes Bruce aside to discuss Jason being increasingly tired in class. School Is Cool: 6

The day continues with unfortunate interruptions for Bruce (including extensive remodelling at the manor, Julia and Vicki both coming by and arranging dates with him, and Lucius arriving for Wayne Foundation related talks), until it is time to pick up Jason from school. Bruce nearly crashes the car on the way home and tells Jason that he can’t go out as Robin tonight. At the manor, Mrs. Groscz is waiting for them, telling Bruce that she has to do regular check-ups on Jason for the next six months. Ouch.

Eventually, nightfall arrives, Mrs. Groscz leaves and Bruce goes out as Batman. After a long night on patrol, he eventually goes to sleep next to a gargoyle, knowing that at least up there no-one will interrupt him.

My classroom is like 90% set up (I’m randomly missing 5 desks but I think we figured it out), I finally hammered out my first unit of IB Geo for the year, and my school BFF and I successfully presented at our county inservice yesterday! And we still have two more days until the kiddos come back.

On a related note, I’m loving the warm, chill vibes of my room this year. I spent way more money on decorations than I should have but it was worth it.
