I’m the freak out 2 parts anon and all I want to say is I’m not freaking out anymore. Will I overthink again? Yes. But I think that I’ve decided to major in political science and minor in International biz. Just wanted to let you know in case you were like “is she ok” lol my college search is still going strong I want to go out of state but it’s going to cost too much even with my 27ACT and with COVID every is still up in the air. Anyways thank and hope your doing well💕
I’m the anon who was trying to pick a major psych, international affairs, political science. I’m pretty set on political science and either double major that with international biz. Or biz be a minor but now I’m still freaking about about choosing a college I have a list safety, match, and reach but the only ones I can afford is my match schools that I don’t think I would get many connections out of school/ state as I want to move away after college bc my state schools are not very good. 1/2
I mean there fine but they are not what I want. And now I’m double guessing my major because it’s political science a safe investment in my future? I’m quite literally having a freak out session in the parking lot of my minimum wage job about this lol any ways do you think I’m on the right track? 2/2 thank you!
Hi! I hope it’s okay I included all the parts of your updates. It’s so rare I get updates, let alone two updates (!!) from folks who’ve asked questions, so this feels pretty special. I was wondering if you were okay, and I’m glad you’ve sorted things out for now. I'm trying to get better at keeping up and responding more quickly, but this week got away from me.
I like this major/minor combination you’ve got here: I think international business will give you an edge as a poli sci major when you’re searching for jobs and internships. That said, if you change your mind again, that’s super normal and I’m sure it’ll be a thoughtful decision.
Going to school out-of-state can be expensive, but private scholarships are a thing, too, so I’d encourage you to look into those. I’d also recommend contacting admissions offices at the colleges you’re interested in and see what they say about financial aid opportunities for out-of-state students (like getting in-state tuition). I recommend reaching out after the start of this school year, since right now they’re focusing on this year’s incoming students. Many colleges are struggling right now, but part of that is because they’re desperate to enroll students, and it sounds like you have academic success that would appeal to them.
I do want to note that it may be worth looking into (financially stable) smaller or medium-sized colleges out-of-state, as they may be especially interested in attracting more students from out-of-state since their in-state applicant pools are smaller. Of course there are other things to consider like program quality and making connections, but it's a strategy I wanted to mention.
If you want to chat about specifics, you are welcome to email me at [email protected]. Thanks for checking in! I’m rooting for you.
