SOME THINGS CHARLIE KIRK SAID AND DID:
Attacked Martin Luther King Jr. ... called him “awful” and said the Civil Rights Act was a mistake. In one interview, he said the first thing he thinks when he sees a Black pilot is, “Boy, I hope he’s qualified.”
Ran “Professor Watchlist”... targeted liberal academics, encouraged harassment. He started a “professor watchlist”which called on his followers to report “leftist propaganda” in the classroom, which reportedly led to the families of those on the list being terrorized with death threats.
He called for the man who assaulted Nancy Pelosi’s husband to be bailed out of jail.
In 2023, Kirk took the stage at a megachurch to unleash a tirade against transgender people. He called them an “abomination” and a “throbbing middle finger to God.” equality. Then he added that people should have “just took care of” transgender people “the way we used to take care of things in the 1950s and 60s.” Let’s be clear about what that meant: the 1950s and 60s were not kind to transgender people. The “standard treatments” were lobotomy, shock therapy and involuntary institutionalization. Police commissioners openly described queer people as “a cancer in the community” and promoted “vigilant detecting.”
Tolerated racism inside TPUSA...staff caught making racist remarks; culture flagged by watchdogs.
Aligned with extremists...platformed alt-right, white nationalist talking points.
Spread disinformation...voter fraud lies, COVID vaccine lies, trafficking conspiracies, false protest claims.
Pushed misogyny... said women should “submit” to husbands; opposed abortion even for grape/incest victims, including children.
Dismissed empathy...mocked compassion as “woke weakness.”
Rape apologist. Charlie Kirk often defended his anti-abortion views. When asked about extreme cases, during one of his interviews, he stated that his daughter, if raped, would deliver the baby no matter if she died.
Turning Point USA CEO and co-founder Charlie Kirk once said, "I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that — it does a lot of damage."
Exploited religion... fused Christian nationalism with politics for power and profit.
Helped mobilize Jan. 6 rally...Turning Point Action bussed people to “Stop the Steal.”
Public executions rhetoric... endorsed the idea of televised executions as “sacred.”
Financial self-enrichment...used donor cash to fund lavish lifestyle (multi-million homes, boats, luxury events).
Blocked abuse reforms ... donated $50,000 to stop sexual abuse accountability measures in the Southern Baptist Convention.
Have a fucking backbone. He was not a good person, I have no empathy or sympathy for someone like him. As a trans man and a bisexual with a gender fluid partner, we don’t have to feel empathy as people who are oppressed for someone who wanted to oppress us if that makes sense. A lot of bad people had families, people in Gaza, Nepal, and Ukraine have families, and they die everyday just to name a few. Children who die in school shootings have families. JFK and MLK had families. Malcom X had a family, and Melissa Hortman and her husband were both killed, they had a family. Just because you have a family doesn’t mean you are absolved of everything you’ve ever said or done. Actions have equal and opposite reactions. He died in a scenario he never thought he would be in. Because people who dismiss terrible things that happen to others never expect the terrible things to happen to them.
Don’t let his death or the way he died spin the narrative. (See what I did there?)
