Despite the author’s annoyance at all the school rules, Hyde High School ultimately plays a large role in the book. Schools in this country are not safe for students so reading about #schoolasmetaphor for a #safeplace in this book is refreshing. In fact, it was the only newly built school in the Bronx, as none were erected in the last 50 years, or so I've been told. It's a medium-sized building with light grey stones and polished windows.....my eyes fell on the dean, who was making her rounds in checking adherence to uniform and other minor behavioral issues.
