Gifts
The first time Schuichi brought Arrow a gift they were in Kindergarten and it was a small pack of glitter ad sequins, an 'I'm sorry' about the previous day's fight.
As they grew it seemed to be an almost regular thing, especially whenever Arrow was feeling down. They were small things, tiny toys, bags of candy, crafty things, lots of crafty things(Arrow loved arts and crafts because his mother was always making beautiful things).
As they grew so did the nature of the gifts. Flowers, tickets, hand made things, stuff that made him blush before running off after giving them to him.
Then one day, Arrow gave him a gift, catching his friend before he could run off and inviting him down to the park on the weekend to see the fireworks.
At the park, under the light of the fireworks he gave him another gift, a kiss. His first kiss, their first kiss.
They continued to exchange gifts as they got older, small things, large things.
"I never asked, but I always wondered, why did you always give me things?" asked Arrow one day, over coffee.
"I-I thought if I gave you things then you wouldn't stop being my friend. Gifts make people happy and if you were happy you would be my friend."
Arrow laughed, squeezing his hand gently. "I don't think you had to worry about that."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out one last gift, a ring, and a promise.
Sad AU time.
Schuichi never existed, he was never real. He was a figment of Arrow's lonely, attention starved imagination.
Arrow, alone and basically friendless retreated into his own mind and created up a friend for himself, a kid his age with traits of one of his favourite animals, the fox. He named the creation Schuichi and only ever interacted with it. They played together and talked together, his world revolved around Schuichi.
Even after his father returned the imaginary friend persisted, Arrow insisting it was real. Tarok played along and convinced his friends to do the same. Arrow was just a kid after all.
'He'll grow of it' they said. 'It's normal for a kid,' they said. 'It's harmless,' they said.
But he never grew out of it, shutting everyone away and continuing to play with his friend and Tarok could only grow more and more worried.
Any insistence that Schuichi wasn't real was met with resistance and Arrow insisting he was real.
That giddy feeling you got, when Yuki calls Schuichi "Shu-Kun" ^^
