EKW D-3800 was a Swiss licence manufactured version of the French Morane Saulnier 406 fighter. Eighty were manufactured between 1938 and 1940 and remained in front line service during World War II. The French Morane Saulnier 406 fighter was manufactured under license in Switzerland by EKW (Eidgenössische Konstruckions Werkstätten), a government owned manufacturing facility. It had several modifications including a fully variable pitch propellor, a revised wing and Swiss radio and instruments. During World War II they helped defend Swiss airspace. The last one was scrapped in 1954.
