Post-CFA2 reflection

Failed... at last

As I just went through examination this past Sunday, another CFA season has ended. It has been, so far, the hardest, yet somewhat enjoyable since everything seemed to go in order until the last minute. Anyways, I thought the actual exam questions were somewhat unexpected but fair. This year, there had been a format change as well as bunch of new topics added, which could explain why Schweser practice exams were not really reflective of the real one. I am sure Schweser will make appropriate adjustments for curriculum next year, but one thing to point out is that it seemed to me, for this particular year's exam, CFA institute aimed to test candidates' understanding of the material in respect to relevant topics rather than simple calculation or questioning whether test takers have equations memorized or not. I think upcoming exams of the following years will show the similar trend. This particular exam I just took on the 7th had quite a number of unexpected questions on level I topics such as Miller & Modigliani. So, I guess any extra efforts put eventually pay off sooner or later. Also, for anyone preparing for the exam next year, I would strongly recommend taking mock exams provided by CFA institute. They were almost identical to actual exam, and for next season, I intend to purchase some if they provide more. Maybe its move away from the Schweser style is all part of the plan to begin generating revenue by selling prep materials. That's all I got to say for now, just need to put it aside until I find out the result on August 18th, and the following link leads to the review notes I made for each level II subjects.
