Hey, fellow women in science here. I wanted to let you know the reason the op focused on the dress is because that blog, startorialist, focuses on clothes with scientific details. So I think you shouldn't spread a kind of misunderstanding around...
And yet, even so, I am torn.Because that isn't the kind of press attention you'd see about male scientists, or rather, it's only the kind of thing that one sees about female scientists. Also are these the official photos of it? Cause her husband is just allowed to hang out in whatever plus jeans. And then, my other worry, would we even see news about her, or her face, without the dress? It reminds me a lot of Hillary Clinton -- she is occasionally asked 'who' she is wearing, something that would never be asked of a man in politics. It's a fashion magazine, sure, but that doesn't negate the entire attitude that is the problem. It's a cool dress, I like it, that's not the problem. The problem is why is that type of article about female scientists so big (as opposed to any other article about her), why does her husband not have to match in formality for such a magazine, why do we only focus on clothes for an awards anything when women are wearing them, why can we circulate pictures of male scientists without anything special on and it's incredibly popular but a post about her is popular because of a dress but without that dress we wouldn't see a post that popular, why a million things like this? I also don't think I spread misinformation, or really any, but I spread an opinion.
I took this list right off of my Tumblr crushes/most liked and reblogged list. These people are awesome. Follow them ALL!

That represents my likes and reblogs for all 3 of my blogs: thedragoninmygarage - Science thedemon-hauntedworld - Astronomy theoriginofthespecies - Evolution
My favorite thing is seeing really attractive, pretty girls be like astrophysicists and things like that 'cause you have to be smart as heck for that and it's super rad seeing cute girls that totally own it while showing guys that they can be smart and pretty instead of one or the other
This is for both my blogs thedragoninmygarage and thedemon-hauntedworld.
