@magnficientoarfish submitted: what kind of fellow is this? Found in the summer in the sequoia  National forest area in California

I don’t recognize them exactly! Definitely a fly, for starters. Has the general shape of a gall midge or fungus gnat. Beyond that I couldn’t get more specific. Except to say that they are cute and a friend :)

Oh gosh what a precious little friend!!! I can tell you it’s...a dipteran. A midge or a gnat, probably. Couldn’t say which one, though!
