The Brinkworth Evolutionary Immunology and Genomics lab at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking a laboratory technician. The position is responsible for the completion of cell experiments, including bacterial and parasitic infections of mammalian cells, maintenance of parasite and cell populations, molecular library construction and cell-based assays, as well as maintenance of the lab and its inventory. This is a year long academic hourly position to start in April/May, 2017, with the possibility of renewal, pending funding. Duties

Performs routine and recurring techniques and studies using EMI equipment (i.e., Geonics EM38, DUALEM-2).

Loads and unloads samples and equipment which weigh up to 50lbs, multiple times a day in extreme heat.

The Blum Lab in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Tulane University invites applications for 2 full-time research associate positions to start in Spring 2015.  We are looking for enthusiastic, conscientious and highly self-motivated individuals to work on a project investigating the consequences of aquatic invasive species (AIS) removal for native Hawaiian stream fishes. Both incumbents, who will be based on Oahu in Hawaii, will participate in field surveys and related work to support genes-to-ecosystem assessments of at-risk species responses to AIS removal. Incumbents also will contribute to data analysis for project reports and peer-review publications. Prior experience participating in or leading field research is desired. Successful applicants will be expected to work independently and collaboratively as an active member of a large research group. Incumbents must be able to conduct stream-based field work, such as snorkel surveys, in sometimes remote locations and in variable weather conditions. Incumbents also must be able to perform detailed data analyses with a high level of precision.
