This painting experiment keeps evolving! I looked at her yesterday evening and I knew I had to do something different to change her more. I was experiencing a surge of passionate creativity and I wanted to harness it to make this work shine even more. I blocked up with the stripy blue area with some gesso, I elongated the yellow form, added a lush lavender in the corner, and made the bold, white oblong at the bottom more pronounced. At the moment she truly does remind me of the diagrams I use to look at in my AP Biology textbooks 🎨 . • The Molecular Series is a visual meditation of what occurs inside of our bodies without a second thought. When I first received these photos of my babes hanging at @buckheadartcompany I was amazed. I’ve been tenacious with my artistic growth and turning my art into a second career. All my hard work finally felt like it paid off when I saw these paintings of my works beautifully displayed in this fantastic gallery. It goes to show that persistence and putting yourself out there pays off. Yesterday I took a well deserved break from the studio and today I’m movingly slowly, enjoying the simplicity of the gray skies outside. I’ll be making my way to the studio today and maybe I’ll start a new work or just enjoy my creative surroundings. The other evening I experienced a moment that made me miss art school. Going to class with a finished work that would then be critiqued was part of the process I enjoyed in school. I LOVED those days. Any feedback I received to push me forward made me joyful. Being an artist on my own makes getting constructive criticism harder. Would you all be willing to start a constructive dialogue of critiquing each other's works? Someone recently told me that my shapes are looking too similar. I didn't realize it until now that they were right. Moving forward, I want to not only make sure I'm creating art that moves me but, also varies drastically from one another. The Flora paintings will always be different in their essence but, all the others need to change. I'm excited that I finally got some critiques and I can't wait to grow from it. Please, please, please, if you've been to art school and understand where I'm coming from I would love it if you provided me some honest feedback. I will gladly welcome it. I didn't realize how much I missed it. So here's this painting that I assumed was finished and I was ready to walk away from it. I’m surprised that I’ve already titled this new work. “Ablaze”, 30”x40”, was inspired by the hyper energy that I experienced earlier today and the smoldering embers of creativity that’s still lingering. I hope you all enjoy this work as much as I did while starting it. These prints are so gorgeous! I’m so happy with how the colors stayed true and some of the layers are popping like tactile textures like the original paintings. You wouldn’t even know that these were prints until you looked closer at them. I’m so excited for these to head off to @elonuniversity this week! I’m finding myself falling head over heels for these works all over again. They work so well together. My newest work in progress is tying in some of the old style with some my new style. I haven’t painted in four days. It feels so strange and I’m itching to find my flow again in the new space.
