Yesterday I started this 36x48 painting. I’m trying something new with the structure of this molecular shape to switch things up. I also finally got my favorite paint color to work with, Matisse Mineral Blue. It’s so divine and all the Matisse paints smell like flowers. I have no clue why, but it’s fantastic 🎨 . • The Molecular Series is a visual meditation of what occurs inside of our bodies without a second thought. I can honestly say that cutting into my molecular shapes and then adding new layers with gesso is the scariest part for me. Even though that’s the case, I have a huge appreciation for gesso. Hate a painting? Gesso over it. Pen ink won’t adhere to acrylic white paint layers? Paint over the white acrylic with gesso. Your paintings shape is awkward? You guessed it: gesso. The medium is straight up magic for any painting situation when I need to make an edit. Tonight I’ll be touching up some of my gesso layers. I love starting new paintings, especially creating a video documenting the beginnings of its creation. “Evolve” is one of many #wips I’m currently working on right now. I’m the happiest when I’m a mess. I painted a lot of ornaments tonight and I love each one of them. I found so much joy and pleasure working on this piece with my mixture of minty hues and rich darks. “Colliding with persistence” is my latest #wip that I started this past weekend and working on it a little this week. I felt the need to create something visually symbolic for the determination that I have when it comes to all things creative. Web Design and Art making are too passions of mine.
