I relapse three or four more times that same instance. I'll finally fall asleep if he's there. Either physically or on the phone. I don't care. I'm so tired. My eyes sting. My neck stings. I hope with everything I have that nobody notices the scratches. I carry on until my next breakdown.

New Year? Meh.

Stein isn’t much for tradition; never has been, but might be. His partners insist on him doing things sometimes. Holidays, mostly. Especially new year. He normally stayed up all night anyway but Qrow is insisting. He finally has a reason to drink aside from forgetting all the shit that’s happened this year. Fights, death, frustration, mental issues abound.

Stein calculated it perfectly. They put in their favorite movie so that the credits would start at exactly midnight. Then they can start their own tradition. The credits start to roll and he turns to his partner. In an instant he’s filled with emotions. Ones he sort of forgot existed. He instantly leans in and presses their lips together. It’s soft but not. He’s gentle, but passionate.

Yang laughs and Ruby makes a ‘gross’ sort of sound and just watches the credits, wishing her sister a happy new year.

Franken wishes with all his heart that this year is happier. Better.. Less full of awful things. He has high hopes with this one around.

I hate my body for keeping me up at night, not letting me sleep. I hate my body for giving me nightmares when I just closed my eyes. I hate my body for sending acid into my throat for no reason. I hate my body for gagging when I try to eat. I hate my body because it’s broken my mind.

Most misunderstood ship Er... I really dunno... What it means by misunderstood. And anyway it’s all relative. Stein shut up.I’d say a ship that usually gets a bad rep is Stein x Medusa but that’s for good fucking reason ew.But that’s just bad rep.I seriously dunno how to do this one, sorry anon ;-;

Driving.

Stein never really learned to drive as a kid. He could walk, jog, or run anywhere he needed to since he’s damn fit. But once Marie moved in she required a vehicle and taxis are sort of expensive when you use them every day. She said there’s no way in hell she’s walking from the lab to the academy every day in high-fucking-heels.

So since he has a plethora of saved money, he gets a car. Something he’ll have leg room in. Though when it comes to driving he always lets her drive. Since she’s pregnant though, she asks him to drive on day and he insists on saying no. When she finally gets him to say why, she cracks the hell up.

“Wait you can’t drive?? How old are you now? What, 31?”

“I’m twenty eight, Marie.”

“Same difference. Franken, oh my god, you need to learn how to drive.” She’s laughing but this is a serious matter to her as well. “I mean ambulances are more expensive than a taxi and I’m going to have a baby you know!”

“I thought we were going to have the baby at the lab,” Now he’s more confused, and off topic. “It’s perfectly sterile and safe and you won’t have to worry about pushy doctors telling you what they think is best for our ch-”

“Franken, focus. Car. Driving. Learn to drive.” She paps him, shaking her head. “I can’t drive to the academy all the time when I’m pregnant..!”

“You should be on leave, Marie, but you insisted on continuing to teach.” He somewhat glares.

“What was that you said about pushy doctors?”

“... Touche.” Stein groans.

Marie starts tapping her nails on the dashboard of the car. “Okay. Today you drive. You know at least how it works right? You’ve studied pretty much everything.”

“Yes.. I know how it works.. I just never put it to practice.”

“Oh so like the first time we--”

“Hush.”

She grins. Point for her. She gets out of the car and switches seats with him, and that’s when the panic starts to set in. “Marie?”

“Hm?” She turns to look at him.

“You know how I’m scared of flying because of the shit you and I went through?”

“Yeah,” She looks worried.

“That’s not the only mode of transport that gives me issues.” It’s true that while he made sure the van looks nothing similar to anything a mental hospital would use, cars still make him rather anxious. He knows too much about them.

Marie sighs and puts her fingers against her temple. “Why’s that?”

Don’t get him started-

“Well it’s not exactly entirely safe, there are many ways this could go wrong. These things are combustible in many ways and you can’t trust other drivers and there are Kishins on the street and-” She got him started. Don’t make someone with chronic paranoia drive a vehicle. Or do anything new, pretty much.

She stops him, thank god. “Okay okay not helping! Just drive! Once you get into it it’s fine okay?”

That’s his queue to shut up. Shut off his paranoia, lock it up for a while. He starts up the car and adjusts everything, and then freezes. Paranoia and anxiety are leaking out of the locked bin. He takes a deep breath, tightens the screw to get his thoughts straight, and starts to drive. He’s good at it. He knows how the machine works. He’s always known how these things work, he just always gets a wave of panic when he tries to drive one. Thankfully, Marie doesn’t usually take no for an answer. Or, again, he can’t bring himself to argue with her. If he mentioned that he didn’t think his mentality would let him drive properly, she probably would have told him he didn’t have to. But he has his pride.

Pride will be his damn downfall.

The man is six-foot-ten. The biggest bed I could find was like 6 feet.
