WiP Wednesday Pt.2
Posting two wips today? Yup that’s me! I missed the past two so I think I’m making up for lost time by posting more than one today. And where as earlier I posted some of the next chapter for Silent Ranger, this will be for my Cowboy Bebop inspired zelink au that I had posted about in previous weeks. While the other two are in the beginning, this is a bit later on while meeting with our favorite bird brain.
in the middle of drawing this I realized Jiang Cheng would make a terrible Jedi
Cyber!AU for emelita "i don’t know who you are anymore” pls 🍑
The world is burning outside the palace, in spite of everything they’ve done, or maybe because of it. The people are angry, and Emily knows that they’re suffering at the hands of armies that their own forces can’t push out. As the queens, they’re failing their people beyond what can ever be forgiven.
“Push on the south end of the city,” Luisa says, pointing toward an area on the projection at their dinner table. Emily gets the urgency, but hates how it has become part of a place that was once free from policy. “There will be casualties, but it’s for the safety of the rest. More troops, more tech-”
“We can’t sacrifice innocent people,” Emily interrupts.
“It’s for the good of the rest.”
She’s right, but it’s shortsighted. Their people won’t trust them if they act like they’re so expendable, especially given the unrest before the war. “It’s a bad move. We need to prove that we can protect all of them.”
“We can’t. We can’t protect all of them, but this is the way to protect the most,” Luisa says, the cybers dancing along her cheekbone flashing angrily. “I love you, Em, but this is real people and real lives. You weren’t raised to make these decisions, but I was, and at the end of the day, you are a consort, not a ruler. It isn’t up to you.”
The words sink in slow, and by the time Emily absorbs them fully, Luisa isn’t paying attention to her. She’s back to her conversation with the generals and her advisers like Angel, leaving Emily sitting there in effective isolation.
“I don’t know who you are anymore,” she snaps, and leaves.
