When reading fantasy or sci-fi in which a character speaks a made-up language, how do you generally prefer the translation to be presented?

In-line, immediately after the use of the language (in parentheses/italic/etc)

As a footnote at the bottom of the page

At the end of the book, in a glossary/appendix/etc

I prefer the other language NOT be written out, just indicated with italics/etc

I prefer the TRANSLATION not be written out, keep it a mystery

How close did I get?

Also, anyone know any artist who could make these look like two pocket watches with their inner workings exposed? I want it as a tattoo and am willing to pay tattoo design commission prices.
