Silicet REWRITE for the fic grab bag meme, please!
So for anyone who doesn't know / couldn't guess, "Scilicet REWRITE" is my file where I am rewriting my giant monster of DC Universe fanfic which can quickly be summed up as "What if Batman was a woman?"
It is over 50 chapters long, and can be read on A03 here. There’s also a bunch of sidestories etc on A03, including a fanfic of my fanfic which a friend from college wrote. Scilicet... also has it’s own Tumbler over here. I've been rewriting it since November of 2019 and recently posted the rewritten chapters 30 & 31. This rewrite started as my Nanowrimo Project, was continued over December, started being posted in January, got more work done during Quarantine and then went on pause due to job search until recently when I had some free time to work on it. The plan is to continue with the story once I finish the rewrite.
So far the rewrite has been pretty minor, fixing spelling/grading, rewording some stuff to make it flow better, fixing small continuity hiccups resulting from having written the original over such a long time, etc. So it wouldn't really be all that interesting to post a snippet of it, as it would be almost identical to the fic as it currently is on A03.
So instead I'm going to give you a somewhat criptic hint at something I am debating doing which wouldn't really "hit" during the rewrite, but would factor in pretty quickly once I finish the rewrite and blaze ahead with new material. To do this I'll give you this quote, from a chapter I haven't rewritten yet:
“I meant what I said earlier.” Rachel whispers, her gaze falling to her lap as she speaks. “I can’t—this can’t be a new beginning.”
And follow it up with a little bit of Author's Commentary:
"Oh Rachel... haven't you learned by now that when a Superhero says things like can't, won't and such is just asking for something to happen?

Literally the day after I moved in with my father & step-mother due to not having a job I found a local long-term substitute teaching job which has now become a full time job!

Hopefully more chapters coming soon!
