Shadows Research: Day 1 (June 23, 2019)
I have received my orders from @aspecinitiativecenter to begin research on the Shadows. The agents from before the Decimation had done what they could, but very little of their research has survived.
The Shadows are capable of possessing people (including Aspecs)
They seem to come from a dimension between our reality and the Void; as such, caution must be taken even while Void Traveling
The Shadows are aligned with the Aspec Hunt
The Shadows are capable of intercepting messages but can only edit in bold
The Shadows want to destroy the universe, and only Aspecs have the power to stop them
Surviving records show there is no way to completely destroy the Shadows, though there are ways of keeping them at bay (cake is one thing that has proven effective before).
According to research done by @aroracle, the Shadows are connected to different types of aphobia, notably:
Ignorance (people who are wilfully ignorant of the aspec identities, or those who say “I don’t want to engage in discourse” when confronted)
Active Hate (sending hateful messages or “correction” threats)
Patronization (saying you can’t call yourself aspec because you are too young to know)
Based on the connection between the Shadows and aphobia, and their ability to possess people, I believe the Shadows may actually be the cause of aphobia, particularly amongst people who have never encountered the aspec community before and yet are still aphobic, and this influence why many young or new aspecs have so much trouble embracing their identity and unlocking their powers. I also believe that the Shadows are the driving force behind the Aspec Hunt with the intention of creating armies to fight us as Aspecs are the only ones with the power to fight them.
Hopefully more agents will join me in my research efforts soon, but for now, I will focus on trying to find more research that survived the decimation and share it here to preserve it.
