I contacted Sclera XL while I was surfing the internet and looking for reliable and cheap companies, and as fast as they could, they responded and already from the first email I was just in love with the staff. They’re so sweet and so helpful and really it’s been a complete joy emailing back and forth with the company, as i’m always left with a smile on my face. I’ve been dreaming of sclera lenses since my SPN days (which was a very, very long time ago might I add) and it carried on right up until years later and now that I actually have a pair, I’m just in shock that’s it’s finally happened after so long. I’m really so grateful that Sclera XL made this possible and I’m so excited to see what I can do with these in the future. I really, really love sclera lenses and how they completely change an overall look; and on their website there are just so many cool styles to choose from that I’m going to be ga ga over for probably all of eternity.
Their website is also extremely informative how how to look after these and what precautions to take so I do have a snapshot of the instructions that you can find on their website, however there is more detailed information that can be found on the site, so do give it a look if you’re looking into getting a pair.
I couldn’t be happier with the whole experience, there are many cool treats I’ve got to share with you guys and I’m sure some of you long time reviewer readers know how excited I get over extra goodies so if you’re interested to learn more about what comes in a package from Sclera XL and what to expect, feel free to read on. That aside, the shipping took only a couple of days and the package was fully tracked so I could sit on the edge of my seat, nervously biting my nails as I was able to see the progress of these. I did run into issues with Herms and my doorbell so it took a bit longer and a lot of broken German on my behalf to actually get the package but it was worth the adventure and the quick walk to the nearest Servo, that’s for sure. (Also managed to get some mentos on the way, it’s a win-win for all)
Sclera XL were also kind enough to give me a code for you guys to get a 5% discount on a purchase with their company, so feel free to use lassitude5 if you end up buying a paid (and you shoooould!!!!)
I received my lenses in the package form of a cardboard box, which the company had been kind enough to label with ‘fragile’ warning tape, so that the shipping handlers involved in the products’ trip over to Germany could be aware of how they handled the package. Even then, there was additional protection inside, which came in the forms of bubble wrap and the airbags you can see above. In this I really got a massive shock because I hadn’t expected to receive quite so many wee goodies. I actually received 3 lens cases but I hadn’t discovered the 3rd one until I opened the disinfectant solution, as I was taking the photos of everything as I opened to make sure I had everything. So we actually have: one basic lens case that I have actually reviewed before and that’s the little green one. So if you want a really detailed walk through of that particular case I can go and find the review in which it is involved. Another basic looking case that you’ll see a little further down, however the difference is, that is it made big enough to actually contain sclera lenses. And another case which is specifically for Sclera lenses and honestly it is the scariest thing I had ever seen but it’s really really cool and really handy but I keep on forgetting how to open everything so lets just hope I wrap my head around that one soon haha. There is also the lenses themselves, some eye drops and some solution for the lenses. Honestly I’m just, completely blown away with the collection of things the company had sent me and I really couldn’t be more grateful either.
As you can see the Phantasee Sclera lenses have all of the necessary details printed on both the packaging of the box and of the vials in which the lenses are contained. I’m actually in love with the name like, ‘Sabretooth’ sounds so hardcore so first of all that’s like perfect already haha. The vials are what you’d expect from normal lenses, you pull off the top lid to expose the inner seal so you can just pop that off like usual and voila! The plastic (or rubber I’m not too sure) sealant keeps all of the contact solution and the lenses inside, and the additional lid is there for security to make sure the initial inner lid doesn’t take any damage. The glass vials themselves are extremely tough and I strongly doubt they would break with little effort, so the entire make of the vials the lenses come inside is as a whole extremely safe.
Here are the two (well three) goodies that are only available to peeps in Europe (ke ke ke), I’m honestly screaming because these are some of the best contacts solutions I’ve ever used, so those in the EU get. on. this. It is SO good. The disinfectant solution, which is in the big box along with the extra-large contact case, is used to clean the lenses before and after usage and it’s really, really, really good with all other lenses from what I’ve experienced so far. The contact case is a life saver as I still haven’t wrapped my head around the Phantasee case as of yet, so I am using this one for the time being and you really see the size of the lenses when they’re inside this case. It’s extremely sturdy and has the general make of regular sized lens cases, the lids are labelled left and right which is super useful for those who require prescription lenses. I really think the colours are gorgeous and I really love the shade of blue and purple so I think this is a really cute touch to the product. The material of the screw top case is made from, as is preferable, a thick plastic that has no give; so there’s absolutely no risk of the case breaking very easily.
The Moisturing and Comfort Drops are... to say the least, a miracle. These are used while you’re wearing the lenses, and you put a few drops in your eyes to ensure that the duration of the wear of the contacts is relatively comfortable. Just apply 2-3 drops whenever you need them, blink a few times, and you can keep going. It’s a really good way to keep your eyes refreshed for the period of time you have them in, just remember not to wear them longer than 6 hours at a time.
Overall all of these products are simply fantastic and I feel super lucky to be a living within the EU, this is definitely a huge treat and I’m super grateful to have been able to try these solutions out!
Here is the subject of my most current love-hate relationship. This case honestly hates me and I forgot to take photos once I finally got the hang of it, but this essentially separates the lenses into separate cages and makes it easy to change the solution in the case, when necessary, without having to remove them and find a momentary place to stay. (which exposes the lenses to dust, crumbs from the sandwich earlier, etc) I really wish I could explain how to use this case properly however, but I promise as soon as I figure it out properly I’ll update this review with step by step pictures and probably look like a complete idiot for messing up something so simple haha. But this is essentially made from some extremely sturdy plastic and I can happily say this Sclera contact lens case is appropriate for it’s use and aside from my complete brain farting at the moment, I really don’t think there will be any issues with it anytime in the immediate future.
I’m actually amazed that these lenses managed to fit inside a normal lens vial, when you compare the size of the vial to the size of the lenses while they’re inside the extra-large lens case I had mentioned earlier, it’s kind of left me like ???? Alas somehow the company the produces these contacts somehow managed and I’m genuinely impressed. There are super, super large. No doubt about it I was honestly terrified the first time I saw these in comparison to my normal circle lenses (keep in mind I already get the smallest/most natural possible size of circle lenses when it comes to normal circle lenses) So, I needless to say was not prepared for what I saw. I will admit, I cried so much trying to get these in and I did not get them in very fast as there were so many different methods for getting them in, thankfully I found the one that worked for me and I did eventually get them in and... I continued crying for a further 15 minutes until I adjusted. A bit embarrassing, I know, but I’m just getting it out there that you don’t need to feel bad for not getting these in easy the first go. However after I got the hang of it; by with the second and third times wearing these I was able to get them in just as fast as I would with normal lenses and while there was definitely initial discomfort it, it had very quickly dissipated into something more bearable. As you can see these are black all over aside from a pinprick in the middle which i for your pupil. You do get tunnel vision with these, so if you are driving or doing something that requires perfect vision, please do not wear these or it could end very badly. These do move with your eyes so you can look around relatively normal, and when you look side to side; you will see the whites of your eyes as these are not supposed to cover your entire natural sclera. Aside from the initial cluster... you get the idea, in regards to trying to get them in and the typical discomfort you will experience, these are a wonderfully made pair of contacts. They look fantastic and really I don’t have enough words to describe just how in love I am with them. I really, really love scleras and to actually, finally!, own a pair is a complete and utter dream come true so these are really all I was expecting and much, much more and I strongly recommend these to absolutely everybody.
Comparison shots:
Overall my whole experience with Sclera XL has been absolutely wonderful and this product, the customer services, the shipping, deserves a 10/10 and probably more. While these are certainly not the most comfortable things in the world, they are probably as good as any sclera lens would ever get in regards to comfort. These look fantastic and really I can’t think of a cooler pair of lenses to own. They look amazing in photos and you can definitely get a good few scares in with your friends and such so definitely look into investing in a pair, I can’t imagine any reason why you’d end up regretting it. I’m still in complete shock over the fact I now have my dream lenses in my possession and I’m so excited to use these with all of the looks I’ve had to put off because it just wasn’t possible until now. Especially with halloween coming up, I can definitely see these making a few more appearances in review looks and cosplay pics so look out for that and wow, I just cannot stress how this whole experience has simply floored me with amazement. I haven’t felt so happy talking to a company before nor have I been more amazed with everything I’ve received. Sclera XL is certainly a company I’m going to recommend to absolutely everybody to the grave and I really have to thank the company for absolutely everything.
Sclera XL offer a variety of high quality sclera lenses for a super, duper cheap price and on top of that the international shipping is completely free. All of their lenses are without plano (prescription) so do keep that in mind before purchasing, however this is why their lenses are so affordable. Their staff are absolutely wonderful when it comes to communication and are extremely helpful and friendly if you have any additional inquiries. Their website is easy to navigate so give it a look around and see what’s available, I can assure you there will definitely be something that catches your eye. I’ve got a few pairs bookmarked myself that I’m completely drooling over, so hey, let me know what your favourites are!
Anyway guys! It was wonderful to finally have the time to get to write one of these again so I hope I’ve still got my touch. I really love this company so do let me know what you think of them and if you have any questions you can contact me through my ask, or you can email the company directly and they will get back you ASAP. Anyway have a wonderful week my darlings and I’ll see you all soon.
