Another Push Video

I had another quick play with the Push this morning after a weekend away from it, just to double check what I wanted to perform. I am pretty happy with the sounds I’m making - using the Cashon kit, Acid Bass and Noise Machine 5 sounds to create the drum, bass and melodic lines.

I have noticed I am much faster at changing between them, and think I finally worked out how the record button works! (Starts recording at the start of the bar not straight away thank goodness!!!)

I will be spending this week finishing the piece off, practicing performing in front of my family ready to present on Friday night at uni! This will be playing with a few more sounds to probably create another melodic line to add another section in if I can think of one!

These are pretty much my final ideas for next Friday - I will be practicing getting the transitions between them all much smoother and exciting, and will hopefully add in another kind of melodic line on top!

Week 13 - Recap

This was our final week of semester! We did a quick recap of what we’d done throughout the 12 weeks of class, as well as had lots of time to again work on our projects.

Again, we looked closely at the different ideas of children at risk or children empowered by the new developments in technology eg TV time reducing attention levels negatively later in life, but technolgoy was also shown to help children learn.

Week 9 - BYOD/Google Suite

This week we had a guest lecturer in, and looked at the Google Suite of sites - Google slides, classroom, sites, docs, sheets, forms etc, and how we could use these in our classrooms. This was a great week for me, as I learned about how to make google sites (which I used in my Baby Steps assessment for CME), and also how Google classroom could be used in a classroom setting, particularly one which may not have complete access to technology or equipment.

This was one of the most beneficial lectures for me, as I know I can use some of these ideas in my classroom when I begin teaching, but it’s also helped me heaps with assessments and just managing my work for uni.

We were told to break things down more than we think we need to, to make instructions really clear for students to understand - examples were to make guide videos to using software or programs, or making guides to using something, or really detailed instructions

Week 5

This week was spent filming a pianist in a recital hall at university, play James Humberstone’s piece Fantasia 2 for piano. This piece used extended piano techniques, where the pianist used a fist to hit the notes in the lower octaves of the piano in loud whacks. 

Our class was fully responsible for the set up, filming and direction of the class, where we each helped to set equipment up, and gave our ideas for filming positions. We had 4 cameras set up, similar to the last filming session, and had more microphones around the class.

I found this class helpful, as we could all see what knowledge we have on the subject of using all this equipment, and could prepare for filming this kind of thing for a school class, possibly to present somewhere or to record assessments or performances.
