Oh.. Oh, no, this was bad. Kaelan watched warily from atop the old ruins where he and his kind had been forced to make their home.. This wasn’t an animal roaming through the woods.. Or even a small child who’d just gotten lost.. This was an adult woman, and.. And Kaelan could feel the tingle of magic surrounding her, too..
“A witch..” He murmured, his wings fluttering just a moment. He didn’t have a lot of experience with witches, but he knew the stories. Stories of witches who snatched pixies away to use in potions, or even just to eat them, or just plucking their wings off for fun and leaving them to die.. Horrible stories with dark endings.. But he couldn’t leave his home undefended. He was their clan’s bravest warrior. Drawing his blade, he leap from his perch to land on a branch directly in front of this woman’s face, ready to challenge her despite his fear.
“Be gone from here, witch! I’m warning you!”
