Stalls & restarts...
There had been little good feeling between me & ms.V from the start, but after that last fall the romance was definitely over. It was decided she wasn't the bike for me & it was time to sell her, with the plan of getting a more upright bike or even a Honda postie.
Timing of the sale coincided perfectly with my discovery of a yoga course "I just had to do" & the money from the bike went to the deposit. This meant that the next 2 years were all about study, as I was completing two diplomas at the same time (Auslan & Yoga), plus working.
My annual pilgrimage to the island remained a definite fixture in my calender each October... Though the dream to ride had diminished somewhat, it was not completely lost, with the flame being reignited in August 2010. Always drawn to motorcyclists & never one to turn down a ride, a new friendship at this time & a shared passion for yoga & motorcycles, saw me taken on a number of rides. All which served to strengthen my desire to get my own.
With both courses completed & work as a yoga teacher increasing, the need for wheels added fuel to the desire to get riding once again...
...from here the commitment to journal really began (...though the blog was a lil delayed)...
Initially I started off playing with the idea of getting a scooter first, to get road time & confidence up before advancing to a bike. First inquiry was with my mate Ciaran about postie bikes in mid Sept. I then checked out Scooterama in North Fitroy. It seems scooters are just as heavy as bikes & have a higher seat & wider base, meaning I'd have to cut some of the seat out for sure to get at least one foot down. The biggest disappointment was the Postie seat also was too high with little room for customisation.
Late September, a ride with mate Tass & his bike mates, threw another spanner in the works. Marela, who's going for lessons to get riding was completely against my idea of the scooter first & James was of the thought that I was going to have to learn to ride a bike some day, so better off going straight to the bike. Good point.
3 seeds were planted that day - take lessons, get a bike straight away & check out imported motorcycle dealers who may have smaller models...
Now we're getting serious!!!...
