You can find extremely in-depth posts about [whatever] on any platform, but one of my favorite things about Tumblr is that fairly consistently (or at least more frequently than I've seen elsewhere) the people making these in-depth posts feel no need to provide any sort of context whatsoever. It makes sense with the whole blog thing (why should you have to explain or provide context for something that e.g. your entire blog is focused on and everyone relevant would already be familiar with?) but lends itself to a fun culture of looking at your dash and seeing:

1. People being up in arms over some (apparently) huge issue that seems to plague that one very specific community but that no one outside of it is even aware of, or-

2. People gushing about characters or series they're excited about, using fan nicknames or insider references that, to an outside observer, just come across as a chunk of word salad that other people for some reason seem to very passionate about, e.g.

"I was so mad when Scootums and The Shit both wore that stupid uniform that I wanted to throw somebody through a window"

And I feel like those are just that spice that makes Tumblr something special
