Scorchstone Golems

this was kind of a random idea I had but it would fit with a future NeoQuest or some sort of RPG like that set in the Neopets universe- I find golems in DnDesque settings to be fascinating and the idea of one being grown out of a Scorchstone really appealed to me. Maybe these could be the foundation for a future homebrew monster for the upcoming tabletop game, I dunno!

Oh Tranquil most definitely hates the way they look. They’ve never really viewed themself as pretty or handsome or anything, but the scar only made things worse. Not to mention whenever they look into a reflection, they can’t help but see a ghost who’s been long- since dead. It’s too much to bear, sometimes, but they’re okay with being unattractive. They feel like they don’t deserve to look nice or own pretty things in general. They have their stories, and they have their friends, and they have love from a distance. Really, that’s all they could really ask for.

As for an object, as I’m sure you know they’ve procured a special item from Rumor- a old golden compact with a unicorn on the front! Even thought they don’t think they deserve nice things, they can’t help but want to be selfish just this once. It reminds them of someone they cherish deeply, and want to keep that someone close, even if it’s not physically. And the broken mirror is an added bonus. It doesn’t feel nearly as jarring to look at themself through.

🌪 - what was your character’s most traumatic experience? AND 🙀 - have you been told told your character resembles a cat from the books? how does this make you feel? how would it make your character feel?: Scorchstone

Oh Fuck where to even start? I think I gotta go with watching his family die. He’s very tight-lipped about it, but everyone knows his parents and brother died during the tail end of the war- all in one sitting. Scorch was never the same after dragging the bodies of his parents back to camp, and he never talks about what happened. It haunts him to this day- nightmares of the whole affair being a common occurrence.

No actually, but I wouldn’t be surprised! He’s just got a real vibe to him that seems like he could be a background character or minor villain in the books to me. I think it’d be really cool if someone had a specific character in mind when looking at him. Scorch would be flattered and assume the cat in question must be one handsome bastard lmao

VERY into indie pop! Listens to a lot of Harry Styles for sure. Really helps get some pep in their step! Also is likely into Musicals- they are, of course, a theatre kid at heart

Perfect happiness for Squall is essentially Mega Clan au where everyone is together in one place, happy, and no one is dead. But that’s not realistic, so they have to settle for other earthly pleasures. Such as the sweet scent of flowers in the flower trail on a sunny New Leaf day. Singing a song on the spring breeze as light speckles down from the trees. Hearing the snorting laughter of their friends and family. Story time with the kits. And cuddling close to a black, velvety pelt under a sea of stars…

Yes he does! Or at least, he used to. It’s definitely dwindled over the years, so now he mainly hangs with Koiflower (his fiancé and childhood best friend), and Flarebrush (Scorch also really likes hanging out with Antlerblaze, who he joked for years was his “new dad” until it basically became reality).

Koi, obviously, is the love of his life. Back in the day the two were each other’s wing-men! They flirted with everyone all the time, though it was never anything serious. After the war, though, they both changed massively. They still stuck together, however, and with everything that happened last arc, Scorch came to realize how much he loved Koi in a NOT homie way. That he didn’t know what he would do without them.

Scorch and Flare started off on the wrong foot. With Scorch being an absolute bastard baby and demanding to fight Flare because he wanted a proper rival (and Talon wasn’t always the most willing participant). Scorch wanted to get in with the older crowd anyway, so why not through proving his worth through battle? Lets just say Flare beat the snot out of him- and respect was earned. The two eventually bonded and created a friendly rivalry, then a friendship that still holds up today! What’s better than this? Just two guys being dudes.

As for Scorch’s reputation… whooooo boy. It’s. Not stellar, I’ll tell you that much. He’s definitely a problematic fav, and has been since forever. Given his rough and tumble nature and how he trained to be a killer soldier and commit war crimes has a tendency to pick fights, he never had nearly as many friends as he thought he did. He was popular with the younger cats for a time, but after losing his apprentice to the medicine den and finding out one of his only friends and trusted clanmates was the conspiring to murder a bunch of cats (thanks Frostheart) it had him reevaluate a lot of things. He’s steadily rebuilding himself and settling down. He comes across now more like a goofy himbo with a little too much “bro” energy to be healthy, but he’s trying to be better. Emphasis on trying.

🦋 - what makes your character beautiful? AND 🥩 - what’s your character’s diet like? what are their favorite and least favorite foods?: Tenderheart

Well- my gal ain’t a 10/10 on TideClan beauty standards for nothing! But besides physicality, Tender’s name is very well chosen, as the most beautiful thing about her is her soft, loving heart, however fragile it may be. She has a quiet determination to love, despite the consequences involved. Though that daringness has subsided significantly since her previous love affairs. They left her deeply broken and scarred, and her mental health has taken a nose-dive since. Especially with Double’s leave. She is currently in the healing process, and that big, beautiful heart of hers still continues to beat.

Being a TideClan cat, fish is the main thing on the menu with Tender’s favorite being catfish! It started because she liked the pun, but eventually she just came to really enjoy it. Plus, it’s much too big to eat by herself, and food always tastes better when sharing it! Her least favorite is muskrat. Even the name is bad. Just. Ew.

🍂 Flax, 🦋Scorch, 🗣Lamb

🍂 - does your character have a friend group? if so, who’s all in it? how does your character feel about each of them?: Flaxfrost

Kinda? If you count his siblings. Flax… really doesn’t have many friends who aren’t good adult aquatints (Emberfrost and Mallownose are two wonderful examples!) Though, he is rekindling a friendship with Squirrelpaw!

Originally, Squirrel and her siblings were just a major pain in Flax’s tail, but they managed to worm their way into his heart eventually. He even began to think of them like little siblings. Alas, it didn’t last as the three were swept away to CanyonClan, leaving him estranged from the terrorizing trio. However, now that they’re all back, he finds himself gravitating towards Squirrelpaw specifically. She has such a fun, playful nature that helps get him out of his shell, but still feeling like a protector (as she is still an apprentice, after all). But she also is one of the few cats who can give him tough love. If it came from his family, it’s much easier to ignore than from a third party- especially someone as vocal as Squirrel (and who obviously has his best interest at heart). He really does value her input, and also is glad he has someone to lean on since the passing of Milknose. He does feel bad, however, that his estranged sister murdered her father in front of everyone. He really doesn’t know how to broach that subject…

Another friend of his is Pinespark, though he doesn’t get to see her too often. The two seemed to click instantly when they met at the border as ‘paws, and get along swimmingly. Flax really admired her tenacity and dedication to whatever goal she’s fixated on. She’s a tough cookie who needs to see her worth! She’s a fighter, and a beautiful individual inside and out. Plus, she is round and therefore friend-shaped which equals trustworthy in Flax’s eyes.

🦋 - what makes your character beautiful?: Scorchstone

Have you seen this Chad? He’s got the handsomest rugged features you ever did see! That, and all his cool-ass scars. He’s got a tale about every single one of them. Some he’s fonder of than most, but he’ll tell you all about ‘em! Except for one in particular… I’ll let you guess which ;)

🗣 - what does your character sound like? do they have any catchphrases? do you have a voiceclaim for them?: Lambleap

Lambleap has the teeniest hint of a southern twang she picked up from a friend during her travels that she just can’t seem to shake. But that’s no problem, because it really does suit her slow, syrupy tone. Smooth as butter and in a pleasant low alto. She’s slow to speak, but it makes you wanna listen every moment!

Oof girl doesn’t get angry easy. Sad? Nostalgic? Depressed? Self-pity? All those come easy. But anger? Shit takes a lot to get mama mad. It’s usually when she comes to the defense of those close to her- y’all talking shit about our good boys Mako or Rowan? You’re getting a stern talking to and bitter looks for moons. Or anything involving kits. Whether it’s someone loosing them (you know who you are 👁), harming them, or causing them distress will have Tender up your ass in a minute with some very passive aggressive remarks if not a rare hiss. Also kits straight up disobeying her and doing something dangerous. Being a monarch, she’s incredibly patient, but expressly going against her words and putting themselves in harms way will really get her riled up.

🥩 - what’s your character’s diet like? what are their favorite and least favorite foods?: Scorchstone

Meat! Mans is,,, BIG!! He needs lots of protein to keep them muscles. His favorite though is rabbit. He really likes it for their pelts, though. He’s a sucker for soft things, and it makes for great nest lining. Least favorite? Birds. They take way too long to pluck, and often times they’re pretty small. He’d rather have less tedious prey, thank you very much.

🧸 - does your character have a specific object that soothes them?: Garclaw

Technically not yet- but he WILL be swapping gifts with a certain someone sometime soon 👀 but in the meantime! He is quite the little treasure hunter- mostly collecting shells, cool rocks, or pearls if he’s lucky (those being his favorite), but he doesn’t like to hoard them. He’ll usually leave them in easier places for others to find, or give the especially cool ones to friends. So if you DO earn the coveted titled of “Friend”, you can be sure to expect little gifts to pop up suddenly in your nest randomly.

🎨 - does your character have a unique skill that sets them apart from others?: Flaxfrost

Mans is very keen on observation. He likes to make a guessing game of cats he comes in contact with about what they’re like based on their physicality and appearance. This does make him judgmental at the worst of times, though, or incredibly kind at the best as he’s sure to notice something you never even noticed about yourself.

Based on their name alone- I’m sure you can make a good guess! My thoughts are mostly leaning towards otherworldly, fae-like sounds. Something calm and lulling. Folk as well! Plus, I often associate them with the sound of a dusty old piano and rain, so adding those in is a bonus, haha!

🌈- SO. MANY. THINGS!!! Honestly there’s so many routes this man could take it’s wild ajsjxjsjsn. A few things I know for certain is that I want he and Jasperchasm to have a confrontation (as they haven’t yet) and there is some serious tea there that Scorch doesn’t even realize yet. I’d also really like him to reconcile with Mumblepaw, if even a little bit so he can stop being scared he’ll currupt the youth haha (even though that’s kinda true)
