[The disgruntled officer stared at Jude in mild disbelief; was she really offering to hear him out on his problems? On his heartache? He scoffed, a wry smirk on his lips. He wasn't about to vent to a kid...she didn't need to hear about everything that was wrong in his life. She had her own issues to deal with, ones that Norm identified with all too well -- though he'd done his best, up until now, to keep that quiet. Alas, it was probably clear just how much he related to her grief...he resented the killer just as much as she did, and he wanted justice more than anybody else on the force.]
[Norm would hear her out -- he was an adult, and he could handle it. But she was a child. She didn't need the burden of Norm's issues piled on top of her own...although, in fairness, he likely wouldn't have spilled even if she was the same age as him. Whether or not he was okay, she didn't need to concern herself with him.]
❝ Dunno what made y'think that, li'l lady. I'm lookin' out fer myself, so you don't gotta worry 'bout me. Alright? I'll be fine. ❞
