Personally, I like it. It gets a lot of crap because people seem to think it's unfair, but I think it is quite fair in comparison to the 6.0 system. I've ranted about this before, but the 6.0 system made like no sense to me. There was no way to score skaters without bias. The current system allows for much less bias, especially in terms of skate order. In 6.0, skate order and pleasing the judges was everything. But if I keep going this is going to be an extremely long post, and I'll save my long rant for a separate post in which I plan comparing all the ways 6.0 and ISJ differ. Because I am that much of a nerd. 

Long story short, I like it.

I need to know because this is driving me crazy at the moment. And I have to rant about it in order to get it off my mind and be able to finish my homework so I can go to bed.

Out of curiosity, out of you 114 lovely followers, how many of you are old enough to remember what the 6.0 scoring system was like? If you do you remember it, or if you've watched enough old skating or done enough research on it, how many of you actually understand it and can make sense out of it? Because I do remember the 6.0 system, but I have never really understood it. I'm reading this book right now called Inside Edge by Christine Brennan, and it's a really good book, but you know, it's a little old so all the references to scoring are to the 6.0 system. And the only thing I understand about it is that it was basically just all about favoritism and who you know, and I'm wondering if any of you lovely people know more about it and would be able/willing to help me understand it more.

So, I foolishly commented on this YouTube video from 2008 Nationals when Johnny Weir and Evan Lysacek tied, and all I said was:

"and now the freeskate mark breaks the tie, what's so terrible about that? they are both amazing skaters, and this scoring system is so much less biased than the old one."

Because people were complaining about the bias in the ISJ scoring system. Someone replied back and freaked out at me about how I implied that there is absolutely no corruption in the current judging system (which I totally did not say, and do not think) and so now I'm thinking, CHILL OUT DUDE! and am trying to figure out why anyone would think that the 6.0 judging system is better than this one. 

I actually understand the current judging system! It makes so much sense to me! Yes, it has it's flaws but you're never going to be able to create a perfect judging system that is without bias. That's just how it is. 

But please, feel free to send me a message sharing your thoughts about the scoring systems. I'm curious hear other people's opinions in a matter that is not me making a simple comment and having some random person spaz out on me while making untrue assumptions.
