November 10 Hollywood producer Gary Goddard faces a new wave of sexual misconduct allegations from eight former child actors who claimed that Goddard either molested or tried to molest them decades ago. The abuse occurred when Goddard taught a Santa Barbara theater troupe in the 1970s. These new allegations come weeks after Edwards, a star of “ER” and “Top Gun,” published an essay in which he revealed Goddard molested him decades ago. The accusers recalled viewing Goddard, who was in his 20s at the time, as a mentor as they tried to get their starts in the entertainment business. “This is a man who’s attracted to little boys, and attracted in the sickest way,” Edwards said. “This is not love, this is not friendship what he was doing. It is a horror because it is manipulating young hearts and minds.” Bret Nighman claims he was 16 when Goddard non-consensually rubbed his crotch, before making Nighman do the same to him. Nighman and another former Goddard pupil — who did not disclose his identity — each verified that Goddard molested Edwards while they were on tour for a “Peter Pan” show in 1977. Another accuser, Linus Huffman, also shared a story in which Goddard allegedly placed his hands on him. “He pulled me aside and put his hands on my legs and went, ‘I’m very proud of you,’ and was going towards my crotch area,” Huffman said, adding he ultimately got out of the situation by saying he needed to get back to work. Mark Driscoll, meanwhile, claims Goddard sexually abused him multiple times in a three-year span. He also reported that he and five of his fellow former colleagues from the theater group got together in 1990, and ultimately each told the others they’d been abused by Goddard when they were children. Edwards and an unnamed accuser also claim a former classmate named Scott Drnavich, who is now dead, told them Goddard sexually assaulted him during his youth as well. A rep for Goddard, 65, “categorically” denied each of these allegations, telling the L.A. Times that they are “full of innuendo and hearsay.” Nonetheless, he stepped away from his company The Goddard Group, which creates theme park attractions for the Georgia Aquarium and the Monster Plantation ride at Six Flags Over Georgia.
