A fascinating piece of history! 📜Dating back to 1910 when Darvel (the neighbouring town) accommodated 12 Lace Mills, each thriving and employing a vast amount of the Irvine Valley. Repost from @lamlashhouse using @RepostRegramApp - We took delivery today of beautiful hand finished lace panels manufactured along the road in Newmilns by @mybtextiles1900 Joseph Hood was a major player in the development of the power loom process in the Irvine Valley in the late 19th century providing the means by which mechanised lace manufacturing flourished in the area. Joseph Hood's daughter Lydia was the wife of Robert Mitchell who had Lamlash House built in 1890. It is no surprise that the lace panels chosen for the bay window in the Victorian Parlour at Lamlash House were from the MYB Lydia range. A further nod to the past in the restoration of this historic building.
