From Anders’s own point of view, the results of the events of Kirkwall were not his fault, and that the message was quite loud ( as well as clear ) on what needed to be done. Yes, innocents were killed in the process, and it was why he was back on the run again. It couldn’t have been avoided —- not with what he had planned and for a while he was actually sorry.
However, it only lasted a few weeks before he started to justify his actions to himself. Not only that, he had started to remember things quite differently than how they actually happened, and that was dangerous. Even to someone like himself, being on the run from Templar’s was no easy feat of strength or determination.
All the same, he was at least going to attempt to justify his own actions --- if not to Caius, it would be to himself once again, ❝ If I was lying to you, I would have stated that I had no involvement. As it stands, i’m just clarifying several things, and if The Maker decides they have a lack of interest or no pity on me? So be it. ❞
Anders had made his choice long ago.
