can we talk about how the hydatids make their hosts act so unlike themselves?

tim, throughout the novel, was characterized as very caring and empathetic, in fact this all happened because he couldn’t turn away a sick man. but after he’s infected, he begins to feel this anger and resentment towards the boys he was shown to care deeply about. he even regrets giving the boys the rest of the food

and then with kent, it’s very clear that he harbors this hidden insecurity when it comes to his strength and worrying that he is unable to meet his father’s high expectations for him. then when he’s infected, he begins having these delusions that he’s a godlike figure

finally with shelley, who lacked any kind of sympathy in the extreme and saw all living things as empty meat husks to be used for his interest, felt maternal towards the parasites inside him and was genuinely scared to lose them

idk i just think it’s interesting uhhhh yap yap conclusion paragraph might add more later

tbh i always wished we could’ve gotten a scene before shit went wrong on falstaff where tim and the boys are doing a regular scout activity

maybe i just want more tim crumbs because i think he’s my underrated goat but i wish we could’ve gotten his regular dynamic with the boys so it’ll hit much harder when they throw him in the closet

today i checked the troop tag on ao3 and i was super super excited to see a new fic was added. and then i looked at the tags…

it was a fic about the boys raping tim.

the boys who are underage btw. y’know 14 YEARS OLD.

???

so 2 of the 7 fics on ao3 are rapefics because we also have that shelley x reader fic that was tagged as non-con. and in that fic shelley is aged up but the fact that you had to age up a MINOR character just to write smut of them is ??? gross???

guys there is a difference between writing SA/rape in a way that has a proper place in a story and writing SA/rape in an exploitative/fetishistic way.

and the tim fic was stated by the author to be SMUT. ‘smut’ where a bunch of 14 year old boy scouts gang-rape their queer scoutmaster.

anyways, the tim fic is so much more disturbing than the shelley fic imo. and if you enjoy/defend it or if you’re the person who WROTE it, block me. like gtfo.
