Speaking of SCP Drama, did It actually ever exist a scp story where a member of the 05 council reveals to his potential replacement that he's Hitler and that the holocaust was done by the foundation as a containment procedure or did I hallucinate it back in the days alongside that other, probably unrelated "682 tentacle fucks 105 during a containment breach in Site 19 caffeteria" story?

so I try to keep The Blog as in character as possible (if you know you know. if you don't, don't worry about it.) so I thought I would address something here. also I promise I don't mind if you want to ask me OOC questions directly. just putting that out there 👀

alright, full disclosure: I've seen the trans Kondraki stuff. I have Beheld it, it's fine, I want to say right off the bat that I Do Not Mind, I am glad you guys are having fun, and honestly I think @npdkondraki's analysis of the reasons it interprets Kondraki that way to be one of the most intelligent and well thought-out analyses I've seen. this is straight-up what I love about writing and about creating, that collaborative interpretation.

for those of you who might not know, I am a strong believer in death of the author. I think that once you create something and put it out there it's not yours anymore -- the original idea is, but what people make of it and how they choose to interact has nothing to do with the writer. if a story is strong enough the correct things should come through; likewise with characterisation. but what people make of those pieces in the end is up to them.

I also don't believe in taking credit for things I did not do. Kondraki has been written over the better part of two decades. he is a collaborative character to begin with, and my own work with him has spanned since I was a literal teenager. therefore I have to be clear: I did not ever write Kondraki intentionally as a trans woman. having said that, I wrote a lot that could be read that way. and regardless of my intentions, there is solid argument for Kondraki to be trans. that is pretty fucking awesome. I always appreciate it when people show me a completely new side of my work.

but having said that, I make it a policy to not confirm or deny any interpretation of Kondraki. this is for the simple reason that I have been around in fandom for a very long time and I've seen how word of god can be abused and used to shut down people who are just having a good time, doing their own thing, and harming nobody. it's important to me that everyone who interacts with my work can do so freely and without "non-canon" breathing down their neck.

the only reason I'm making this post at all is because Kondraki is getting a lot of asks about the gender thing and his blog is entirely in character. this is his interpretation of the questions and his answers. I didn't want this lack of outright confirmation to make anyone think I disapproved of the theory. I think it's pretty cool actually. but I'm just the author, so ultimately it has nothing to do with me.

lol not to bring up scp stuff on your personal again. this is from someone who used to enjoy scp 2015-16 & returned recently to learn about all the SHIT that’s happened, but have scp staff / general reviewers always been so snooty??? sometimes it feels like the standard for the wiki is a whole academic-level article that one sacrifices their life writing to appease the standards of others, instead of a well-written passion piece

yeah. yeah. it has always been that way. it's gotten so much worse -- part of the reason i stopped reading the wiki four chan and nine gags ago was because the articles were getting increasingly long and masturbatory, but from what i can tell it's gotten even worse. i'm fucking old school man, i think a good wiki article (and a good creepypasta in general) should be short and sweet. i liked the format of the articles and the fact they were so clinical made it a fun writing challenge, and the boundaries of the medium were still pushed in fun ways. now it really is just an insanely convoluted approach where the longer and more complex and flashy the article, the better it's deemed to be. i'm sure some of them are good in terms of story and creativity but in terms of the original medium there's no fucking way a scientific report would look like that. it ruins the immersion for me and at least way back when i was still aware of content it often seemed like bells and whistles and fancy layouts were disguising writing that was mediocre at best.

the wiki has always been known for its snootiness. from its very inception there was a certain pride being taken in rudeness, dismissiveness, pretentiousness, and faux intellectualism. i did it, everyone did it, i'm not saying i was immune. but i was also like. a teenager/very young adult. i grew out of it. i know the fanbase skews young but the fact remains that there's always been a staff maintained who subscribe to the snooty holier-than-thou method of critique and while most people grow out of it it's been so firmly baked into the wiki's culture that it's just seen as normal. it's really fucked up, and i've seen way too many people get way too invested and crash out horrendously. i think it's a perfect storm really -- the content attracts a certain type of person who seems to overall be more susceptible to groupthink and sensitive to criticism. combine that with the cliqueyness and the fact that a lot of people are getting their self-esteem through online popularity and upvotes and it's a recipe for disaster.

i really don't get it man. the vast majority of wiki users are regular-ass people but there's this rotten core that is just absolutely insane. and it presents in all these innocuous ways that can be ignored or excused, like this sort of thing is often excused as "the wiki just has high standards" but like. 👀 i've been watching this utter nonsense for so long at this point and i and everyone with brain cells and basic pattern recognition can see that this is just unhinged.

yeah but to be fair having depression is like an entry level requirement to joining the wiki. i can hardly judge lmao there was a time where you could actually track my mental illness by how active i was in scp circles

I can’t recall if you were still writing at the peak of his popularity, but I’m still trying to track down TroyL if he has a tumblr account too.

I'm not in touch with anyone from SCP, and haven't been for some time. not for any drama reasons, just we're all doing different things now. I sometimes see Clef around because we both run character blogs, and I know Rights has a Tumblr, but we don't talk. I really don't know about TroyL. somebody messaged me a few years back claiming to be him (on anon) but because it was some weird attempt to accuse me of necromancy for criticising wiki response to somebody being harrassed so much it contributed to their suicide, I doubt it was the real guy.
