The Lord of Anguish and its Sorrowful Princess.

Alagaddans enjoy pain. They do tend to suggest classier things to be hit with than Artz' usual old shoe, though. They have standards.
Dolores still doesn't want to be here and we're not sure how Artz got in at all. ;)
It could be a sweet picture of 035 and Dolores dancing and having nice bonding time, or 035 is just trying to lure Dolores out of her shielded containment so it can use her like a sadness battery and take over the world. Depends on how fluffy 035 is feeling that day.
Canonically, Dolores is about five feet tall. I usually have Mirth at about ten. I just wanted to do size differences and maybe give Dolores a head-pat. ( She's got her Sorrowful Mask on 'cause she's in Alagadda today. )
( 035 does not want Mirth anywhere near its kid, or Dolores anywhere near Alagadda. )
TO THE POLYCULE I KEEP SEEING,CAN I PLEASE BE YOUR CHILD?!?!?!?
I want you to go in depth about Dolores and 035 relationship pls!(if you don’t mind) you explained how 035 doesn’t know how to be a good parent (but try I guess?) and he care for dolores, but you said also
Like how 035 never really manages to act like a parent for Dolores - it's possessive, it's protective, but it treats her like a protege rather than a daughter.)
what does that mean in more detail? he of course care since he took her with them to alagadda, and Dolores is older now but doesn’t she feel any anger about it? that her parent isn’t really treating her like a daughter?
Did someone make the mistake of asking for in-depth? >:D
Okay, so this partially depends on the AU. The basic lead-up in both cases is that 035 breached in the late 1980s and made it to the country of Palau. While there, it had a one-night-stand with a local woman. Soon after, 035 was re-contained and didn't think any more of it. Meanwhile, the local woman ( I've named her Carmen ) comes down pregnant but just assumes her boyfriend was the dad, so they get married.
So Dolores is born, an oddly sensitive child who cries acidic black tears. Carmen's husband ditches because he doesn't want a freaky, probably-demon daughter. Carmen spends the next eighteen years-ish raising Dolores. Meanwhile, Dolores' empathic abilities keep growing stronger and she has no way to control them. She'd love to be around people but she can't tell which emotions are hers and which are anyone else's and it's all overwhelming. Then one day a Foundation agent is vacationing in Palau, hears about this anomalous young lady, and convinces her to come with him promising that the Foundation can cure her.
Dolores spends the next fifteen years in Site-19, and her anomaly keeps growing stronger until she can feel every human on Earth and the Foundation ends up containing her deep underground in a shielded cell. They never really try to cure her because that's not what the Foundation does, but do try to help her get her abilities under control. This fails. Dolores has realised by now that she's going to be spending the rest of her life here and has no idea how her mom is doing, if Carmen is wondering if Dolores will ever come home or if the Foundation amnestitised her or what.
Then in 2022 there's another breach, and since 049 is being no fun, 035 wanders off to explore other parts of Site-19 and finds an elevator. At the bottom, it finds Dolores' containment. At first thinking she'll just make a good host ( it hasn't got its fancy Alagadda body yet and is currently on a corpse, ) they get to talking and 035 realises that it knew Dolores' mom. And after a bit of math and some tests to determine that Dolores leaks proper black bile and not just black tears, realises that it's actually her biological father. Being Alagaddan, it never occurred to 035 that it could make a baby, but it turns out that a fresh human host can still be fertile. ( Whether 035 had any other kids in the past is unknown. It doesn't know, at least. ) Technically Dolores should be entirely human since a mask can't provide genetic material, but being the Black Lord of Alagadda means some Alagadda weirdness still got in.
In the fic I wrote, 035 ended up erasing both their memories of this meeting to protect Dolores - if no one knows her connection to 035, then Alagadda can't learn about the connection and use her. All Dolores has at the end is a note saying not to trust anyone in a mask, and all 035 has is an altered memory basically of 'yeah, I met this chick, she was boring' so it wouldn't go back to look for her.
However, in the Happy Family AU, 035 doesn't do the memory erasing, instead deciding that it will protect her from Alagadda with its own power and by imparting knowledge and control to Dolores. It manages to wrangle Social Time with Dolores so it can teach her how to control her anomalies. Also Alagadda decides not to kidnap her because it's a fluff AU.
Either way, Dolores isn't upset that 035 isn't A Dad to her - they don't meet until she's in her mid-late 30's, and as far as she's concerned her only parent that mattered was Carmen. It's kind of nice to know that her anomaly came from somewhere, that she wasn't just cursed by God or whatever, and that someone's finally helping her who can help her, but she hasn't been pining for a father. In a strange way she even kind of likes 035's possessiveness - here's someone who isn't treating her like a freak or an object to be studied, it thinks she's something unique and special. ( Yes, 035 is a whole parade of red flags but c'mon, Dolores' dad abandoned her when she was a toddler and she's been stuck in a cage for fifteen years. It's not healthy but it makes sense. )
would dr.west act like a mother to a intern?
If West ended up adopting a young intern or researcher, the closest she could get to being Mom is being Protective Mentor. ( Like how 035 never really manages to act like a parent for Dolores - it's possessive, it's protective, but it treats her like a protege rather than a daughter. )
Are galen and dolores some sort of step sibling or idk??? Like sice their bio parents are marryed🤔🤔 would they even consider eachother as such or what qould their relationship even be???
Dolores and Galen would be half-siblings since they share a parent. ( Though they don't share any DNA because Alagaddan Weirdness. ;) ) Doc and West would be step-parents to Dolores.
Running with this AU being a Family AU, then 035 and Dolores know about their ties to each other and Alagadda hasn't done anything awful about it. So Galen would be allowed hang-out time with Dolores. Who is in her mid-late thirties ( I did the math from the 132-ARC article at some point. ) Dolores is not real thrilled at first with 'surprise, you have an Anomalous Baby Brother on your Monster Dad's side' but Galen takes to the whole 'yay, I have a big sister!' thing immediately. Galen doesn't see anything weird about having a sister old enough to be his mom, kid lives in a facility, he doesn't know what's normal. Dad's nearly 700 years old. Dolores warms up to Galen pretty quickly, partially because she doesn't get much human contact, but also because Galen is sanguine - she can't help but feel happy around him.
So Dolores and Galen end up bonding and basically just being siblings. Of course Galen pulls the whole 'my little sister Dolores' bit once he gets taller than her, which is pretty quick since she's like five-foot-nothing. He thinks the massive age difference makes it extra funny.
