Probably too late, but publishing a blog post tomorrow on the last day of the internship! I had such an awesome time here and wanted to share ways to get the most out of the internship.
Another shot of my banana cream pie (if anyone missed Anna's perfect picture). While everyone was grabbing a piece, I also talked to Janice and Jeremy a bit about the pie-making process and dropped a tip: when following the recipe, make sure to add a little more butter to the crust to make sure it sticks together and doesn't end up being just little pieces of graham cracker (does that count as teaching someone outside my lab something new?). For anyone interested, the recipe is here.
Taught Laura (UX, not in my lab) something non-lab-related: how to make perfect mashed potatoes!
The magic: 5lb of potatoes, 4-8oz of cream cheese along with butter, 1tbsp Lawry’s salt and onion powder, plus a pinch of black pepper. Whip it all together with beaters and bake. Bakes like a soufflé. :)
I vegan-ize them quite often too: “Better than Cream Cheese” and margarine.
TTT Name: Gondola skipper
We were stuck for ~10 minutes going up on the scenic gondola ride, so Eli and I decided to jog down the mountain instead of taking it back down. Real winter adventure.
EDIT: In my defense Durham, I was thinking Gondola Lift
I baked again to satisfy Andy's word-mongering (and cravings for sweets)
The note says "contains: milk, wheat, soy, and deliciousness
Scram double whammy!
1. I baked for this week – chocolate covered granola bites, AND
2. I taught Sam a non-lab related skill in the process!
HQ– they will be ready at lunch time.
Didn't snap a photo in the actual meeting yesterday, but Saad and I had a client meeting in DC at one of my favorite places
