SCW - 54: Quicksails - "As High Above the Lightning"

Quicksails (Ben Billington) provides the manic squelches and accelerating arpeggios of this week's Screaming Claws track. Billington's exploits in the Chicago underground as drummer for Tiger Hatchery, Druids of Huge, the live ensembles of Circuit des Yeux and Ryley Walker, and infinite other collaborations continue to melt our minds and blast our eardrums. His solo synth explorations as Quicksails have produced headtrips on a number of labels - including Spectrum Spools, NNA Tapes, and Digitalis Recordings. SCW - 45: dang!fever - Shambo Ends: 

For this week's Screaming Claws session, we're unearthing a sliver of whispered improv ambient from Chicago multi-instrumentalist Michael Hodges, AKA dang!fever. Over the last few years, Michael has home-recorded countless sessions of his organic strain of synth-based drone, which wait in stacks of cassettes somewhere in his apartment for us to devour in the future. For now, the quivering leads, hi-fi chordal swells, and glacial harmonic structures of "Shambo Ends" can tide us over - until his next collaboration or bit of solo material leaks into the ether.
