PAGE 19- Happy Easter to all those that celebrate Easter.  This story takes place partly in a Catholic school so I guess, it’s appropriate. 

I’m starting to mentally get ready for the Alaska Robotics Mini-Con and Comics Camp at the end of April (which is a crazy cool event in Juneau, check it out here.)  I am a little intimidated by the guest list, but I’m doing my best to remember that peoples is peoples. But I am making lists of stuff I need and stuff that I bring for people that maybe forget to bring stuff because I am a Boy-Scout-Be-Prepared kinda guy.

PAGE 12- Hello my dudes! This is the last page of the physical mini that I printed in the fall of last year for @cxcfestival (a rad show here in Ohio, that you need to attend no matter what part of the country you are in) and that means next week it’s totally new, never-before-seen pages in a new style! 

Once again, I’m sorry for the style change up, but I needed to do something different or the tunnels were gonna get in my carpals and all the pain and surgery would ensue.  Plus I got to play with ink wash, which I haven’t really done before and have really enjoyed.  I feel like inkwash is a secret tunnel to being better at every aspect of comic-making. Like- I think my colors will benefit from this years-long, pure value experiment I’ve embarked on. 

Also, if you haven’t been checking out @stickworldcomic you are missing out- stop doing this to yourself and go catch up on Meggie’s awesome book.

Page 11 - Ahh! This has been a busy week! I finished designing the new menu for work and held a beer tasting, all while I was figuring out what Adobe CC suite to pay for, (cause that thing is expensive). So....well, that doesn’t sound that busy, but it felt busy! I also had an awesome first D&D session DM’d by my brother- it’s a really good crew. We were hunting pig thieves. 

Also, my very good friend and comics-beast, @meggietheramm has launched their amazing Stickworld book as a webcomic! They’ve been working on this hilarious, stick-figure featuring tome for more than three years and now you get to reap the benefits! Check it out at @stickworldcomic and throw some dough towards their Patreon as well.

PAGE 20- Ahhh, the sunshine of spring. The weak, yellowy, can’t-even-heat-the-air-passed-30-degrees spring sun.  Nah, it’s not that bad, but it is still cold and no one wants that anymore. This week has been a weird one, our car is in the shop so I’ve been making the 2 mile trek to and from work most days (which is a lot in the midwest, because no one walks anywhere, cause there are no sidewalks for half of that) but I call it training for the Alaska Robotics Mini Con and Comics Camp at the end of April. 

Oh yes, I am heading to Juneau at the end of the month for this amazing event/con/camping thing and I am very...very excited. And a little nervous. I spent some time catching up on what to do if you run into a bear or a moose. I assume those are the dangers of Alaska.  

I have also been forcing people to listen to ‘The Instrument’ by Wye Oak and try to tell me what time it’s in.  Even having an idea, I cannot count that song out, it is like the aural equivalent of a magic eye poster to me.  This week I didn’t listen to many podcasts and I jammed to a tooooon of music, new and old and new-to-me-but-old.  I recommend all of it.

PAGE 14-   Man, Sunday really sneaks up on you! I am taking a tiny drawing break so I can reduce some wrist pain I’ve been experiencing, but I’ll be back at it on Tuesday.  

I just finished re-drawing some pages fro the 4th issue of an all-ages comic called Multi- that I co-created with Nick Dutro, who writes it.  We are trying to get 4 and 5 out this spring so we can collect them into a trade paperback buuuuuut we will see. Hopefully we get there.   

Yesterday, my wife and I saw a double feature: The Shape of Water and Annihilation. She liked Annihilation more and I liked Shape of Water more- which surprised us both.

Page 10- Getting closer! It’s been a big week, my wife and I bought a car and I found out that I got accepted the Comics Camp at Alaska Robotics Mini-Con, which I am super psyched about! Legit, I have been following Vera Brosgol’s career since I was in high school (I think they were still in college?) and I literally had Tony Cliff’s Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant open while I was working on my thesis for my MFA.  I just...so excited. 

Also, I thought you might be interested in the stuff I listen to while I work on my comics.  This weeks podcasts were The Adventure Zone, Switchblade Sisters, and Philosophize This. Music-wise its was Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Manchester Orchestra, The Cure, and Milk Carton Kids.
