news about the green (patreon re-post)
Hello gang, let's have a round up of news related to me and my work:
This is Fine: Maximum Cope is out and going strong. It's out on every console! Forgive me if I don't provide links to those online stores, but I swear to you it is! Just search for "this is fine" on your platform of choice. One of my nephews called the game "fire" and I don't think he knows what a pun is.
Speaking of games, Pixel Starships, an online and free-to-play shapeship simulator, still has that Gunshow collection, which does contain Question Hound and others from Gunshow. It came out last year, but hey, it's still available! The Gunshow pack and other packs do cost money tho. Games these days, right? Money! Sheesh.
This is Fine: The Official Coloring Book is out in stores. All types of bookstores and giftshops that might contain a line of "adult" coloring book projects. It basically contains my nice line-art of the original "On Fire" comic, "This is Not Fine", and several new and older pieces of Question Hound pictures. And you ALLOWED to color them in on the page. No one will arrest you.
If you don't want to color, then my other book This is Fine: Life Lessons for a World on Fire will contain most of those pictures in FULL COLOR and with some parred-down jokes alongside them. You're NOT ALLOWED to color in this book and they will find you if you do. But that book comes out in August, so we wait patiently.
If you can believe it, there is actual Greatures t-shirts available now. Last Place and Empty Boy have separate designs and they will hold that over Cigarette any chance they get, that her shirt didn't make the cut (I got MY Cigarette shirt). All this preamble to say that Greatures WILL have a volume 1 ready and possibly printed by the end of 2026. Mark my words.
Matt Bors, former editor of the Nib, made a meme that went nuts and now he's working on a book designed to pick it apart: THAT ONE MATT BORS COMIC is funding now on Kickstarter. I am slated to draw a 'toon for the book as are loads of other amazing cartoonist and writers. We're gonna improve that society, I'll tell YOU what.
I was picked as one of the judges for the Cartoonist Co-Op Mini Comics Awards, and then we went and judged almost 700 mini comics! We picked our favs and an live-streamed ceremony will air May 30th (info about stream at end of this post)! I'll be on the stream alongside the other judges and we'll discuss the comics, the winners, and which one of us will be punished for our choices first (hoping it's me). Ah, just joshin', it'll be a fun time.
And that's all I can think of oh YEAH. Artisan, an AI company, had their AI recreate the meme for an ad some workers in the NYC subway station had to paste up in real life for other people to roll their eyes at as they walked to work. I found a lawyer who was willing to have a talk with Artisan and their brilliant Founder and now the ad has been taken down. No lawsuit pending, just adults talking to adults.
Most AI people seem like thin-skinned cowards who don't know their ass from their elbow about the real world. And this one made an idiot's mistake that others have also made (that memes come from no where). It's not a huge punishment for the likes of Artisan, I'm sure, but I hope the shame makes a mark. The pessimist in me says "probably not." But I move onward, forever out-creating these dopes. Out-living their time trying to fuck the rest of us.
That's all, really! Really!
