Y/N pulled into the parking lot, the tires screeching slightly as she stopped the car abruptly, hissing at the noise. She turned off the engine, checking the time on her phone and breathing a sigh of relief. She was early for her first day, which allowed her a few extra minutes to look over the material that she had been given once she got the job to prep for the first day. She opened the canvas tote bag that had all the scripts she had to read before starting, taking out the last one and flipping to the last few pages. She read them quickly but made a few detailed notes on certain parts and hoped that what she had added would help her new boss see potential in her.
She had been hired as the office assistant/writer’s assistant, which she’d be pulling double duties of running the office to the producer’s liking, as well as helping with research and note taking during meetings. Considering they gave her copies of the scripts to read (after signing several NDAs), it was a good sign that they already trusted her.
Checking her phone again, she put the script away along with her pen and highlighters. She picked up both her bags and got out of the car, locking it before making her way towards the door of the production office. Walking down the hallway, she took in all the framed posters of films and TV series along the walls. Some were projects from Chaos Machine Productions, and others from the production company they shared a building with. With the help of the signage, she took a left at the end of the hall, turning towards Chaos Machine.
“Hi,” a young woman approached her as she reached the office, a bright smile on her face. Y/N recognized her as the woman who conducted her interview. “Great to finally see you in person Y/N.”
“You too, Sarah,” Y/N responded, shaking her hand.
“Alright, let’s get you set up,” Sarah stated, and gestured for Y/N to follow behind her.
Y/N smiled at some of the other employees as she walked past the desks, each of them set up with Mac computers and personal touches from the person who sat there. She reached the end where one of the desks only had a computer and dropped her bags near the leg of the table, sitting on the chair and turning it in Sarah’s direction.
“So, computer’s ready to go, your username and password are in the employee email, and you can change the password any time. This is everything that needs to be done before Mr. Ackles comes in at 10,” she explained, pointing at all the papers in front of Y/N. “But don’t actually call him that, he prefers Jensen.”
“Okay,” Y/N nodded.
“If you have any questions, I’m just a few desks down,” Sarah said, a kind smile on her face. “Welcome to Chaos Machine.”
“Thanks,” Y/N muttered, sighing softly once Sarah walked away. She felt a little lighter now that she had a general idea of what was going on at the company, and what the people were like.
She got everything set up on her computer, the itinerary for the day, printed out all the documents needed for the morning’s meeting, and then got started on setting up the room before Mr. Ackles came in. One of the employee’s mentioned that he was pretty punctual, so as soon as it turned 10am, she had his coffee ready. She didn’t get to meet him at the initial interview because he was out of town overseeing one of the productions, but considering she had seen some of his work, she knew him and just hoped he wasn’t going to be a problem with those distracting features of his.
That thought immediately went out the window as she finally laid eyes on him, seeing him walk into the office with his backpack slung over one shoulder. He sauntered past her, engrossed in the script he had in his hand, filing through the pages. He stopped abruptly, turning on the heel of his boot and facing her, causing her to gulp.
“You must be Y/N,” he said, his voice deep and husky.
She stood up, trying not to think about how great her name sounded on his lips, smiling politely. “I am. It’s great to finally meet you, Mr. Ackles.” She frowned as soon as the words left her mouth.
He had clearly noticed her chastising herself, but he didn’t make it known. He smirked, waving her off. “Jensen’s fine. Is everything set for the meeting?”
“It is,” she confirmed, picking up the papers that she had looked over three times already. “That top one needs to be signed, and the writers should be here soon.”
“Awesome.”
“And this is for you,” she muttered, handing him the steaming mug of caffeine.
“Thank you.” He took the mug from her, taking a small sip with a hum of approval. “You’d think it wasn’t your first day. Let everyone know to be in the meeting room in 5?”
“Sure thing,” she agreed.
“Great,” he breathed, smiling at her once more before he walked towards his office.
She watched him leave, an involuntary sigh leaving her as she took in his retreating form. She found herself biting her lip as her gaze drifted down to his shirt-covered back, denim clad ass and the bowlegs that took long strides towards his office. She shook her head as she sat back down. The last thing she needed was to develop a crush on her boss.
She couldn’t exactly avoid him in order to help with that, so she just hoped that the universe would have mercy on her.
Lunch time rolled around quicker than she had realized. She tried to escape outside to hopefully have at least one moment she didn’t have to see him, but that plan went to shit the minute Sarah dragged her into one of the other meeting rooms where everyone was having lunch together.
“So how long have you been in L.A. for?” he asked her as she sat down across the table from him.
“About 6 months,” she replied, only meeting his eyes briefly before she looked back down at her salad, “I was at another production company for a couple of months, but a friend heard about Chaos and told me I should apply.”
He nodded slowly, his eyes staring deep into hers. “So, what’s the next move? Writing, directing?”
“Writing, hopefully,” she sighed, her lips pulling into a small grin. “Honestly can’t imagine myself doing anything else.”
He leaned back in his chair, an approving smirk on his face. “I don’t think I’ve heard an honest answer like that in a long time.”
Y/N felt her cheeks heat up the longer she looked at him, and she knew she had to take her leave and get back to early as soon as possible. Picking up her box of salad and phone, she stood up, and with one parting smile, left the room, still feeling his intense but alluring gaze on her.
She could feel the initial fluttering of attraction deep in her stomach, but she had to ignore it.
Y/N yawned as she slapped the last script on top of the pile, stepping back to take in the work she had done in the last hour. She had separated all the screenplays that had been sent to the company, sorting them into ones that were worth coming back to, others that would be better suited to other companies, and ones that unfortunately had to be sent back to the writer. She frowned as she thought about how hers were probably sitting in an office similar to this out there, waiting to be given the time of day.
It's all a part of the business, I guess. She looked down at her watch and sighed heavily, seeing that it was close to 8pm. She had no energy left to go home and cook, so take-out would have to do. Shutting the lights off in the small back office, she closed the door behind her before making her way back to her desk. As she approached, a smile grew on her face, seeing Jensen leaning against the surface.
“Figured you deserved this after a long first day,” he said, handing her one of the tumblers with two fingers of whiskey.
“Thanks,” she muttered, clinking her glass to his before she took a sip.
“Enjoy that while you can, ‘cause today was easy,” he warned her, a playful glint in his eye as he smirked. “Things are about to get a whole lot tougher.”
Standing up a little straighter, she tilted her chin in silent challenge as she looked up at him. “I can handle whatever you’re gonna throw at me.”
He chuckled, throwing the last of his drink back. “Good.”
She huffed a small laugh as she finished her drink, passing the glass back to him. She flinched slightly as his fingers brushed against hers, causing their eyes to meet once more. He slowly took the tumbler back, stepping back as he smiled softly.
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
“Goodnight, Jensen,” she whispered.
Y/N watched him walk back into his office, the door left slightly ajar. Sarah had told her he was usually the last one to leave because he just preferred doing a little extra work at the office before going home. With one last look at his door, she packed up her things and turned off the lamp at her desk, walking down the hallway to the front of the building.
She couldn’t believe that she already had one day down at the company, after weeks of anticipating this new job. She knew it was only going to get tougher just like Jensen had told her, but she was prepared for it.
She just had to hope she wouldn’t fall for his ridiculously handsome face along the way.

Chapter 8:
Two weeks had passed since the incident and luckily the situation had blown over within the week. The two had continued to stay inside for their movie nights and hangouts. Lori left the last Friday and was truly a sad day for the girls. There were hugs and whispers of promising that they would see each other soon. Lori and Y/n did their handshaking before leaving each other. There were tears on her face and Tom with Supernatural and food for the rest of the weekend. Tom’s brothers and best friend were coming onto set today after coming into town yesterday. Y/n was nervous to meet the group and wanted to make a good impression. Though she was not dating Tom, she was Tom’s other best friend, they had gotten close fairly quickly and she didn’t want to lose their friendship because his family didn’t like her. Harrison was also going to stay on set to get back to the job of being his personal assistant. He was gone because he was finishing up a promo for a movie that he would be premiering in. She dressed better than usual today but also like she wasn’t trying too hard and it was the perfect excuse to wear her new Nike dunks that she’d been waiting weeks for. She was known around the set for having one of the best styles and was even getting recognized by celebrity bloggers. So, she was never worried about that.
Tom and Ryan were currently in the middle of a scene and they were finally at the midpoint of the movie. It was very bittersweet because Y/n loved working with everyone on set and she didn’t want to leave them. She promised herself that for the next movie, she’d be working on that she’d try to get the same crew because they were all such a joy to work with. Y/n was knocked out of her thoughts when she saw Tom’s eyes start to not focus on the scene in front of him but instead on something or someones behind Ryan. Y/n followed Tom’s gaze when he began laughing. There were three boys two that looked identical to Tom and one who was slightly taller than the other two boys. One held a sign saying, ‘Would you like a juice box? We don’t want you to get cranky :(” and the other two holding two six packs of juice boxes in the air waving. Anxiety rose when she recognized them. Man, she hoped they liked her. Ryan C. had cut the scene by the time the three walked on set. He had just gotten done introducing him to Michael and Ryan, so the group was laughing when Tom caught Y/n’s eye. He smiled and waved her over. She got up from her seat and adjusted her jacket before walking over. She tried to put confidence on her face when she saw the group looking at her. “You must be Y/n the girl this Div can’t stop talking about-” Tom quickly interjects stopping Harry from talking. “I do not talk about her that much,” Everyone laughs slightly as Y/n’s face warms and Tom’s ears burn a bright red. “Anyway, like I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, It’s wonderful to meet you in person. And Tom was right you’re even more beautiful in person. If you ever get tired of waiting on this one to make a move, I’ll gladly ta-” Tom puts his hand quickly over his brother’s mouth as everyone laughs. Y/n ignored the warmth rising on her neck. “So Y/n don’t we have to leave in a bit so we can go out for lunch,” She nods, “Yup, we're going to my second favorite restaurant in ATL and your brother can take me to my first,” The group laughs at her comment as an assistant comes over to let them know that their car was there.
When they finally made it to the restaurant and were seated, Y/n heard a familiar voice introducing themselves. “Parker! It’s so good to see you! I haven’t seen you since the last time I was here. How’s Liam and Avery,” A quick hug was shared between the two as Parker told Y/n about their kids. “You know those two little rascals, they’re still getting all A’s though so I’m proud of them. Avery still wants to be just like you when she grows up.” Y/n nods laughing. Everyone’s eyes are focused on the two speaking when Y/n notices their silence. “Sorry, guys lemme introduce you to one of my favorite people at Toast, Parker! They’ve been here since I’ve been coming here when I was working on my screenplay. They were even some inspiration for Tom’s character.” Everyone waves as Y/n finally sit down. “Well enough of my chattin’. Y/n I’m guessing you want your usual,” Y/n nods quickly. “What about everyone else?” Everyone tells Parker their order. “I’ll let Chef know that you’re out here as well. He was literally just talkin’ about how much he missed you.” Everyone thanks Parker as they begin to leave. “Y/n, when Tom said you pick the best restaurants, he wasn’t lying,” Harrison told her. “Yeah, as much as I like to say I don’t love food. I love food. I’ve been actually talking to some people about having a show reviewing restaurants around the country after the film,” Tom grabbed her hand that was laying on the table and squeezed it. “ Darling, you didn’t tell me anything about this,” Everyone nods (except for the twins and Harrison) in agreement. “Sorry, y’all I promise I was only going to tell you guys when things were becoming a bit final. I didn’t want to tell you all before and get your hopes up if it fell through. I didn’t even think that people would even want to listen to what I had to say let alone a whole show about it,” she said solemnly. “Y/n, love, anyone would love to hear what you have to say. Especially something you’re clearly so passionate about. It lights up your eyes whenever you talk about a restaurant you want to try.” Ryan and Micheal looked at each at the mention of Y/n’s name surprised to hear him say it. It meant, clearly, he was serious. “Y/n, I know we’ve just met but when you were explaining why you love this restaurant and food on the way over, I could taste every meal you talked about. You clearly have a knack for it, don’t ever worry about that. I’m excited for you and I’m watching every episode whenever it comes out.” Sam said sincerely. The table agreed as their plates were played out in front of them by Parker. “Thank you guys,” Y/n said after thanking Parker. She had a huge smile on her face at the comments they made feeling wayyy more confident about her show than before. She didn’t notice how Tom was looking at her, however. Like she hung the stars. Harrison had to kick him slightly under the table because he was staring too long. Y/n turned slightly asking if he was okay as Tom grunted. He said a quick yes. Y/n just barely missed Harrison whispering in Tom’s ear and his face turning beet red. She brushed it off as him doing something embarrassing that only Harrison saw.
After 40 minutes of drinking, talking, and clearing plates, the Chef came out to greet them as they were paying the bill. “I hope you all enjoyed the food. Thank you all for coming and Jellybean thank you for bringing everyone here.” He said to Y/n as they hugged. “Anytime Uncle Virgil. I’ll probably be back here sometime this weekend. Gotta do some writing,” she said with a wink. She went back to Tom’s side as he put his arm around her shoulder. Virgil smiled as he watched. “You didn’t tell me you were bringing your boyfriend with you. I would’ve called your aunt over too. Your Pops didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend, I outta-” Y/n quickly interrupted, “Tom’s not my boyfriend Unc. We’re just friends I promise.” Virgil looked over at Ryan for confirmation asking her with his eyes why they weren't together when they clearly liked each other. She shrugged her shoulders. He looked back at Y/n. “Good because even though your father is my best friend, I will beat him up at any time.” The group laughed and the awkwardness quickly washed away. “Well, I’ll see you around kiddo, be safe out there, and good luck with that movie of yours. I love you!” The group waved goodbye and went into the car. They let Kill Bill play through the car before Tom finally spoke up. “Jellybean huh?”

Y/N sighed heavily as she pressed the play button on the voicemail that had been left on her phone.
Y/N, it’s Jensen. Listen… I don’t understand what happened back there, but please let’s just talk about it. If I did something wrong… I’m really sorry, darlin’. Just call me back, okay?
She pressed the trash button, deleting the message and moving onto the next one.
Hey, it’s me again. I just want to talk to you. Make sure you’re okay. Please call me back.
She closed her eyes as she leaned back in her chair at the table, running her hands down her face to wipe away the tears that had started. She had made a mess of everything, and she had no clue how to fix it. She loved the job she was doing, and she could very well have to give it up just because she couldn’t control her feelings for her boss. She never should’ve gone into the office to talk to him. She should’ve let it go, gone home and forgotten about why she was mad. At least that wouldn’t have led to them having sex on his desk. Sweaty, sensual, passionate, needy, rough sex that had kept her up all night with all the images that replayed in her mind.
What was worse, was that Jensen was clearly under the impression that he had done something wrong, and they couldn’t be further from the truth. He was in no way to blame for her getting so desperate for him that she couldn’t walk out of that office. If she had left before things progressed, she wouldn’t have been considering her future at Chaos Machine Productions that morning.
She had to leave before someone found out what happened, somehow. No good would come from her staying at the company, and she had to move on. No matter how much she really didn’t want to.
It was the right thing to do after the chaos she had caused.
Jensen stared up at the ceiling of his home office, his head pressed back against his desk chair as he gnawed at his lip. He had been trying to work to distract himself from the situation with Y/N, but his mind was too occupied to concentrate on anything in front of him. He had left her message last night and earlier that morning, and she hadn’t responded yet. It was a Saturday, and she had only taken a few things home with her to work on, so he knew she wouldn’t be that busy. He knew he needed to talk to her, but he wasn’t sure if he should go to her house, not wanting to corner her in any way.
Things were definitely more clear now, almost 24 hours after everything went south. He was sure what happened was what they both wanted, and maybe she was just scared of any possible repercussions. He had to hope that was all it was.
Looking down at the time on the computer screen, he saw that it was almost 7pm. He had spent the whole day in that office and he really needed to get up and stretch his legs. Deciding that he had to take the leap, he looked up Y/N’s address from the company files he had a copy of his home computer, standing up from the desk once he had put it in his phone.
If she asked him to leave, then he would do it, but he had to fix things between them before it was completely unsalvageable.
Y/N poured herself a generous amount of wine into a glass, carrying it over to her couch and sitting down with her legs tucked under her. She hummed contently as she took a sip, extremely glad that it was finally at a decent hour in the day when she could switch from coffee to wine. She had Thai food on the way, and she wanted to find something on Netflix that would distract her from how she had been feeling all day. She was angry at herself for what she had done, and she was sad too. She wasn’t ready to leave the company that she had loved to be a part of so soon.
She was really going to miss the work, and the people, especially Jensen. Even if her feelings for him had been the reason for this mess in the first place.
The doorbell ring echoing through the house made her frown, as she stopped flicking through all the titles on Netflix. She placed her glass on the coffee table and stood up, her bare feet padding down the small hallway to the front door. She gasped as her eyes widened once it was opened, seeing Jensen on the other side.
“Hey,” he greeted her, that timbre of his voice reigniting the heat within her instantly.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, softly as she gulped. She was nervous to be around him, knowing she had no control of what she felt for him.
“Well, you haven’t called me back despite me asking you to, twice, so I thought I should pay you a house call,” he explained, his green eyes locked on her.
“Jensen, I…” she sighed, shaking her head, unsure of how to say what she needed to say.
“Y/N please, let’s just talk about this, okay?” he reasoned.
Pressing her lips together as she thought it over, she nodded slowly. “Okay.”
She stepped aside and let him step into the house, closing the door and leading him into the living area. She turned back to face him, her hands nervously twisting each of her fingers as she dropped her gaze to the floor. She was afraid of where this conversation would go, and she didn’t want to upset him in any way. Before she could open her mouth to speak, he was right in front of her, his curled finger under her chin tilting her head up to look into his eyes once more.
“I was so sure that what happened was what you wanted,” he started, his voice low and husky, working through his thoughts as he spoke. “If I hurt you, did something you didn’t want in any way, please, please tell me.”
She shook her head, feeling tears prick her eyes. “You didn’t do anything that I didn’t want. It was-it was all amazing. You were amazing-”
“Then why’d you run off, darlin’?” he asked, softly.
“I shouldn’t have stayed behind in the first place,” she replied, sniffling as a few tears escaped. “If what we did got out somehow, it could risk things for you and I don’t want that. I couldn’t handle it if I was responsible for your career being in jeopardy. So I… I think I have to leave the company.”
He sighed heavily, fearing she’d want to do that. None of it was her fault, and he was starting to realize it wasn’t his, either. He acted on impulse, and they shouldn’t have done anything at work, but he knew he liked her a lot. And from what she just said, he knew she liked him, too. There was nothing wrong with that. They could keep things secret from a while, until she decided whether she wanted to move onto another production company or was in charge of her own series. She was so talented and capable of anything, and he wanted to be in her life to support her in her dreams.
“I had a feeling you’d say that,” he admitted, never taking his eyes off her as he continued, “I told myself I’d let you go if that’s what you wanted, but I think, even in the short time you’ve been here, I know you. I know that’s not what you want, is it?”
“No,” she whispered, her voice cracking.
“Then stay,” he stated, a small smile playing at his lips as he wiped away her tears with his thumbs. “Stay at the company, and everything else will work out. We’ll keep things between us until you want to move on.”
“But what about-” she started but he slowly leaned down, cutting off her words with a soft kiss.
“It’s nothing we can’t handle together,” he muttered against her lips. Lifting his head slightly, his green eyes gazed into hers as his smile widened. “I like you, Y/N. So, so much. Since the day I saw you. And I know in time that I could find myself loving you. I’m ready to give this a shot if you are.”
She beamed as she moved closer to him, her hands clinging to his shirt as she looked up at him. “I really like you, too. I’m ready.”
Jensen chuckled lightly as he leaned down, kissing her passionately as his arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her close. She smiled against his lips as the embrace continued, her hands moving up and draping around his neck. The doorbell ringing again made him groan in frustration as he pulled away, looking behind him.
“That’s my Thai food,” she giggled, biting her lip. “Do you… wanna stay for dinner?”
He turned back to her, smirking as he pecked her lips once, twice. “I’d love to.”
They pulled away from each other and he gestured for her to wait, walking towards the door to get the food for her. Y/N couldn’t help the smile that pulled wide at her lips as she thought about the last 24 hours and the drastic way her life had changed. She wouldn’t take one thing back now that it all worked out for the best. She knew that things would be difficult as they kept their relationship secret, but she was more than willing to try with Jensen by her side.
She got to keep the job she loved, stay with the people she had become close with, and be with the man she had fallen for on the very first day at Chaos Machine Productions. If someone had told her all of this would happen when she moved to L.A., she wouldn’t have believed them. But she knew one thing for certain.
She wouldn’t change a single moment.

A small squeak of initial shock was the only protest Y/N gave to Jensen’s lips on hers.
He was waiting for her to push him off, slap him across the face, run out and then have to deal with the aftermath, but she surprised him by resting her hands on his chest and melting into the embrace. Her hands instantly gripped the navy blue shirt he was wearing in her fists, the buttons straining. Things became heated within seconds, the weeks of built-up sexual tension reaching its limit, as their lips were locked in a searing kiss. If they could hear each other in that moment, they would know they were both thinking the same thing. That this was completely wrong and they shouldn’t be doing this.
And yet they couldn’t stop.
Jensen walked Y/N backwards towards the desk, all his belongings shifting and rattling as they bumped into the edge. A soft moan escaped her as his plump lips left hers, moving across her jaw and down to her neck, her eyes fluttering closed at the feel of them against her skin. His hands slipped down to the curve of her ass, lifting her up carefully and setting her down on the desk, her legs wrapping around his waist as she pulled him closer. His mouth met hers again as they kissed roughly, their hands desperate to feel each other as they roamed their bodies. She tugged at his shirt again, a breathy moan fanning against his lips as she flicked open the first button. She worked open all of them, her nails scraping against his bare chest as she felt a heat settle deep in her core.
“Fuck,” she breathed as she took in the man in front of her.
He hissed as her nails dug into his skin, a low grunt leaving him as he pressed his lips to hers in a hard embrace, tugging his shirt down his arms. He reached for the black t-shirt she was wearing, untucking it from her wide leg jeans and pushing it up, pulling away from her long enough to remove it. He threw it somewhere in the office, followed by his own shirt, taking a brief second to take in the features of her face. She bit her lip as she looked at him, cupping his jaw in her petite hands as he leaned in, kissing along the length of her neck. She gasped as he moved down her chest, kissing her clavicle as he nuzzled his face between her breasts, his hands roaming over her dark red bra.
“You’re so fucking beautiful,” he whispered against her skin, kissing it softly.
“Jensen, I-” she stopped herself, pressing her lips together as she felt his against her flesh.
He slid down further, his teeth biting the cup of her bra and pulling it down, his mouth instantly closing over her nipple, causing a soft moan to escape her. She combed her fingers through his hair as his tongue circled the hardened peak. A groan from him vibrated against her flesh as she scraped her nails over his scalp, his mouth leaving her to continue the trail down her body. His hands were quick and rough as he undid the belt on her jeans, her legs swinging slightly to kick off the brown, block heels that she was wearing. She shifted slightly to allow him to tug her pants down, along with the dark red panties underneath. His eyes gazed up at her as he pulled them down her smooth legs, her breathing becoming more frantic with anticipation for what was about to happen.
She had dreamed about this very moment so many times, late at night in the privacy of her bedroom as she pleasured herself, but she never thought it would become a reality.
Jensen wasted no time as he dropped to his knees, placing her calves over his shoulders as looked up at her one last time, moving between her spread thighs. Y/N dropped her head back as her mouth fell open in a wanton moan, feeling his tongue lick a long stripe against her folds, instantly moving over her clit. One hand slapped against down on the table to keep herself from falling back, as the other found its way into his hair again to keep him in place. She gasped as he moved the skilled muscle over the swollen nub, the circular movement causing her thighs to quiver as she gripped his short locks tight between her fingers.
“Fuck, Jensen I-” she muttered, glancing down at him through hooded eyes. “Just like that…”
He groaned when he felt her arousal growing over his tongue, smirking as he held her thighs tight in his hands and felt her hips shift against his mouth. She grinded against him slowly, causing his eyes to flick up and see sheer euphoria etched on her features. He pulled away briefly, pressing a soft kiss to the inside of her thigh as his eyes met hers.
“Taste so fucking good,” he husked, nuzzling his nose against her skin. “You don’t know how many times I’ve thought about this.”
She hummed, biting her lip as she glanced down at him. “As much as me?”
He chuckled; the sound rumbled deep in his throat as he kissed her thigh again. “This what you wanted, Y/N?”
“Yeah.” Her voice was barely above a whisper as she moved closer to him, tugging at his hair and making him growl. “But more, please… I need more,” she begged.
“So desperate for me, darlin’.”
He shifted and pressed himself further into her, a long, rasping moan leaving her as he continued his ministrations. She threw her head back as he alternated between paying attention to the bundle of nerves and her entrance, moving his tongue in lightly before drifting back to her clit. She could herself getting close, the bliss she was craving teetering on the edge as she felt the muscles in her core tighten.
“Oh god,” she breathed, her hand slipping back slightly as her arm struggled to keep her upright. She was completely overwhelmed by the pleasure he was giving her. “I’m… fuck, Jensen…”
“Can feel how close you are, baby,” he groaned as he pulled back briefly. “Cum on my tongue, wanna feel it.”
Her hands pulled tighter at his hair as her neck strained back, a husky scream of bliss escaping her lips as the coil within her snapped, her release spreading over his tongue as he lapped at everything she had to give. He moaned at the taste of her as he held her close, not wanting to let go. She panted heavily as she came down from her high, not even registering him standing up slowly. She looked at him once she heard the clink of his belt, her hands instantly reaching for it. A guttural whimper left her as she got desperate, yanking the belt through the loops, and pressing her lips to his in a rough kiss.
Their movements were frantic as she worked on unzipping his jeans and pushing them down his thighs along with his boxers, her hand wrapping around his hard cock. He ripped his mouth away from hers, a low grunt falling from his lips as she pumped her hand along his shaft, her thumb circling the head as she moved up. He lightly pushed her hand away, taking them both and draping her arms around his neck, as he pressed his forehead to hers. He took hold of his cock, lining it up to her entrance. She shifted her hips forward just as he did, a whimper escaping her as he sunk deep inside her, her walls sheathing him completely.
“Fuck,” he husked, squeezing his eyes shut.
He wasted no time in setting a pace as his hips began to move, matching their frenzied embrace as the desk underneath them started to shake. She moaned loudly as she tugged at his hair, her hand clenching over his shoulder, her nails digging into his skin. It urged him on, causing him to cup her face and pull her into a feverish kiss. His breath fanned against her lips as they gazed into each other’s eyes, every thought they had about this being wrong long forgotten. It felt too good to be wrong.
“Fuck, right there,” she whimpered, pushing herself closer to him. “Don’t stop…”
He growled, leaning into her as he laid a hand on the surface of the desk to balance them. “Feel so fucking perfect wrapped around my cock.”
“Jensen, please… fuck me harder, please,” she begged, gripping both of his shoulders, tightly.
He held onto her hip with his other hand as he pounded into her, a pleasured shriek falling from her mouth as her head dropped into the crook of his neck. Neither of them cared as papers slipped and pens rolled off the desk, too consumed by what they were feeling to pay any attention to that. Whimpering moans escaped her with each thrust, her fingers digging deeper into his skin as her hands slid down his sweat slicked, muscular back. A sound somewhere between a grunt and a moan ripped from his throat as her teeth scraped over his neck, biting him as he continued his hard and fast pace. Her walls clenched around his shaft, just as the familiar heat flickered within her.
“Fuck, darlin’, I can feel how close you are,” he rasped, cupping her face in his hands and staring deep into her eyes. “Want me to make you cum hard on my cock, don’t ya?”
“Yeah,” she moaned, clinging tighter to him as she felt close to the edge. “P-Please… make me cum, Jensen, please.”
Jensen leaned down and pressed his lips to Y/N’s in a searing kiss. It was practically bruising, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. His hips smacked against hers as he hit that sweet spot inside her with each thrust, making her fingers dig deeper into his flesh as her eyes squeezed shut. Her nails could almost draw blood to the surface, but he wouldn’t have cared if she did. The only thing that mattered was what was happening in that moment. They held onto each other as she felt the pressure low in her belly build, a string of moans and a scream of his name escaping her as her body convulsed, her release washing over her.
“Y/N… fuck, I-” he choked on his words as her orgasm triggered his, his head dropping down to her shoulder as he grunted with each hard thrust into her, ropes of his seed coating her walls as he came with a strained moan in her ear.
Soft whimpers and low groans were the only sounds in the room as their bodies heaved with each labored breath. Jensen pressed his face into the crook, kissing her softly as her hand lightly combed through the short hair at the nape of his neck. Her eyes fluttered open, her vision finally focusing on a spot on the light gray wall in front of her.
With his lips continuing their sweet caress over her skin, the reality of what they had just done sunk in.
“Fuck,” she muttered, shaking her head as she took in her surroundings. Clothes scattered across the floor, her shoes flung in different directions, the scattered papers and pens.
He huffed a small laugh, lifting his head and nuzzling his nose along her jaw. He couldn’t help but think of the same way to describe what just happened. Fuck, it was incredible. “I know.”
“No…” she whispered, shifting away from him.
Frowning, he moved back to look down at her, confused by the sudden change in her demeanor. He pulled out of her and started getting dressed again, watching her closely as she did the same. Just as she picked up her shoes and began making her way to the door of his office, he stepped up behind her, taking her hand in his.
“Y/N, stop,” he said, calmly as he tried to get her to turn around. “Stay, please…”
“I-I can’t,” she stuttered, yanking her hand away just as she opened the door.
Y/N ran out of the room as fast as she could, snatching up her jacket and purse as she made her way past her desk, and sprinted down the rows to the hallway.
“Shit!” he yelled as he fixed his shirt and jeans, taking off after her.
Y/N threw the doors of the building open as she quickly made her way to her car, getting in as fast as she could, flinging her belongings into the passenger seat. She saw Jensen coming out just as she revved the engine, reversing and pulling out of the parking spot, her tires screeching against the concrete. She pressed down on the gas with her bare foot, the car driving through the open gates and onto the main road before he could reach her.
“Fuck!”
Jensen stared out the open entrance, watching her car disappear around the corner, his hands roughly combing through his hair as he cursed repeatedly. He shut his eyes tight, shaking his head as he couldn’t even think of what to do. He thought everything was okay, that they both wanted this, but he must’ve read things wrong. Now he had ruined everything, and she was never going to see him the same way again. She probably wanted nothing to do with him. She would likely move on from Chaos Machine, find somewhere else where her boss won’t violate any rules, and he wouldn’t stop her leaving even if he wanted to.
And after the mess he’d made of the situation, he had no right to ask her to stay.

The next few days passed by quickly at Chaos Machine Productions, with Y/N as busy as ever.
She welcomed all the work she had to do, because it was a great distraction from the fact that she and Jensen had barely spoken in that time. Apart from a couple of meetings and other tasks related to work, he hadn’t talked to her at all, preferring to either stay in his office for most of the day, or take a long lunch out so that he didn’t have to speak with her. Things had been awkward since they had sort of snapped at each other in his office the other night before she went out with Caleb for a drink, and none of their interactions had resembled anything close to the comfortability they usually had with each other.
She hadn’t even heard anything about her script from him, and she was worried that whatever she had done had upset him a lot, to the point where he might not want to work with her anymore. She really needed to talk to him, clear the air and see if they could at least salvage their working relationship if friendship was off the table.
She was thankful it was Friday, which meant things would be less busy at the office, and she’d have a chance to talk to him.
She just hoped he would be in a better mood.
It was around lunch time when Jensen asked Sarah to take any calls that might come in while he was away, picking up his wallet and phone and walking out of his office. He had decided to take a long lunch, knowing a walk around the block always helped him think better, and there was a lot to think about these days. Projects were coming in left and right, they had lined up two for pre-production and there was a lot more that needed to be done. He had been busier than ever, and he was glad about that. He loved to work, and he always told people that a busy Jensen was a happy Jensen, and he was grateful to the ones who understood that.
There was only one thing that he wished he could have, and that was someone to share that happiness with. When things were going well professionally, it usually meant he had no time to think about his love life, and that wasn’t always such a bad thing. Except on the nights where he’d return home later than usual, the house dark and empty with no one to curl into bed with. He had been pretty content with being alone for a while, and then Y/N came along and changed all of that.
She had him as soon as he saw her, shot straight to the heart, but in some cruel joke from the universe he couldn’t be with her. She was his subordinate, and there was just no way to go around that fact. If anyone ever found out about the thoughts he had of her at night, jerking himself off with her name on his lips, he’d be in big trouble.
He may not be able to be with her, but the least he could do was make amends. He hated that he had been ignoring her and he hoped that they could get back to the way things used to be.
“Heading out?” Sarah asked him as he walked past her desk.
“Yeah,” he replied, stopping for a second as he thought about what he needed to say to her, clicking his fingers when he had it. “If anyone from WB calls just let them know we want to meet them in person on Monday.”
Sarah nodded and made a note of what he said, as he tried to recall if there was anything else. He quickly found himself distracted when Y/N walked into the open office space, Caleb strolling next to her as she listened intently to whatever he was saying. Jensen’s jaw clenched as he watched them, feeling an irrational level of anger bubbling under the surface. Caleb wasn’t a bad guy, they had worked well together for a whole year, but he hated the idea of Y/N dating anyone in the office. If he couldn’t ask her out, then it wasn’t really fair if someone else did. He knew that sounded stupid, but he couldn’t help how he felt.
“Hey,” Y/N greeted him, smiling softly as she stopped in front of him, Jensen blocking her way back to her desk.
He returned the smile, knowing he had to talk to her soon about everything. “Hey… are you free tonight? I could use your help with a few things.” The pretence of work would likely get her to say yes, but it was a good thing he really did need her help with some paperwork, and they could talk while they were busy and had distractions.
“Sure,” she said, with a curt nod. Y/N was relieved that he asked her for her help, because there were a lot of things that she needed to talk to him about, and she hoped that there would be a free moment to bring up what had been on her mind.
“Anything I can help with, boss?” Caleb asked, politely.
“Didn’t ask you, did I?”
As soon as the words left Jensen’s mouth, he regretted them. He cringed at his harsh tone, at the fact that he had snapped in front of Sarah and Y/N, and that Caleb looked genuinely taken aback by his reaction to his simple question. He didn’t even need to glance in Y/N’s direction to know she was glaring daggers at him.
He shook his head, playing it off like he was tired, which he had been this week and he just hoped that he hadn’t ruined his relationships at the company. “Sorry, man. It’s been a long week, but no. Thanks though.”
“Yeah,” Caleb muttered, nodding slowly before he turned around and walked back to his desk.
Jensen kept his eyes in front of him as he took several strides away from Y/N before he let out the breath he had been holding. As he left the building, he stopped and leaned against the wall, closing his eyes tightly. He had possibly fucked up a lot of things with just one comment, and he was going to have to repair it all as fast as possible. There was too much to deal with all at the same time, and he really had to take it one thing at a time. The first step was to talk to Y/N, and everything else could be dealt with after.
Once he had talked it out with her, he knew everything else would fall into place when he was thinking clearly again.
As it was Friday, all the employees had either left early for home or had gone out for dinner and drinks, except for Y/N.
As the last of her co-workers left and wished her a good weekend, Y/N finished up her work, organized the small office where the scripts were kept, cleaned the break room and then fixed her desk and had it ready for Monday when she came back into the office. She had kept all the tasks she had planned to do throughout the day for the end of it, wanting Jensen to stew as long as possible in his office. After his unnecessary snap at Caleb earlier that day, he deserved it. She was going to call him out and tell him it was totally unfair. She didn’t care if he was her boss, he needed to know.
Once she had absolutely nothing left to do, she walked over to his office. She didn’t bother knocking, opening the door and standing in the threshold, watching him as he raised his head to look at her. At least he looked somewhat guilty, which would make raising her voice a little easier.
“I was starting to think you were leaving me hangin’,” he muttered, huffing a small laugh.
“Well, after your attitude today, it was tempting,” she countered, crossing her arms over her chest as she stared him down.
Jensen sighed, gnawing at his lip before he continued. “So, I have a few things that I need you to look over-”
“We’re seriously just gonna ignore what happened?” she asked, glaring at him.
“No,” he breathed, shaking his head before glancing down at the papers in front of him. “I just think we should go over these papers first and then we can talk.”
“That’s not gonna cut it,” she stated, her grimace still prominent.
“Y/N-”
“You can’t treat people like that, Jensen,” she interrupted him, not caring at that moment that he was her superior. “That’s not the kind of workplace I signed up for, and I know that wasn’t you, not really. You’ve been acting weird for days, you’ve been ignoring me for the most part unless it’s about work, and you’ve been hiding out here, even when you’re not working. So just tell me what’s going on.”
“Nothing’s going on, Y/N,” he said, unable to meet her eyes. He knew she’d be able to tell that he was lying.
“Bullshit!” she yelled, dropping her hands as she stalked closer to him, “Since the other night we snapped at each other, I know things haven’t been right. It’s the same day I gave you my script, so if it’s about that, if it wasn’t good or-”
“It was great,” he interjected, with a glare of his own. She couldn’t assume that was the problem because it couldn’t be further from the truth. He stepped closer to her, their bodies mere inches away from each other, their eyes locked. “That’s not what’s goin’ on here!”
“Then what?!” she shrieked, scowling up at him.
Before he could completely comprehend his actions, Jensen cupped Y/N’s face in his hands and pressed his lips to hers, hoping that he wasn’t about to ruin one more thing in his life.

Attraction, like everything else, had its different stages.
Things usually started with the inability to not glance at each other, followed by being unable to think straight when you’re around the person you had feelings for. Then came the “thinking about them in different scenarios” stage, which was where Y/N found herself a few days later, at 6:47am, in the privacy of her bedroom. Her mind conjured up the best dream she had had in a long time, and somehow the worst too because she certainly didn’t need another reason to avoid her boss.
It started off innocently, a normal occurrence for her of going to Jensen’s office, but as she was explaining something about a script is when it escalated. Their eyes met, his green orbs filled with intensity as he stared at her, before her lips were on his. They roughly pulled at each other’s clothes, before he swiped everything off his desk, pushing her down on the surface and making his way down her body with his lips. Her eyes squeezed shut as she moaned wantonly, feeling him between her spread legs, her fingers combing into his hair to hold him in place as he pleasured her with his skilled mouth. It had felt so real, to the point where her own hand snaked down between her thighs, finding the swollen nub and bringing herself over the edge with his name on her lips, mirroring the way she screamed it in her dream as he helped her reach euphoric bliss with one last flick of his tongue.
She had woken up sweating, panting for air as she sat up and recollected what had just happened. She had a sex dream about her boss; her boss who she found herself incredibly attracted to.
How the fuck was she supposed to look him in the eye at work now?
Unfortunately for Y/N, she wasn’t able to avoid Jensen like she had been praying she could on the drive into the office. As she pulled her car into the parking lot, she saw him getting out of the black Jeep three spots away, a smirk spreading on his face as he spotted her. She took a deep breath, got out of the car and gathered the stack of scripts into her hands. She pretended that she hadn’t seen him, keeping her eyes on the front door as she walked across the parking lot. Just as she was about to get the building, the front of her white sneaker got stuck in the cracks of the concrete, sending her down to the ground as the scripts fluttered around her.
“Oh my God!” she heard him yell as he ran towards her, taking her hand in his.
“Fuck,” she groaned as she sat up, feeling the sting in her knees, but thankful she was wearing jeans and they hadn’t ripped.
“Here let me help you, put your weight on me,” he advised, wrapping his arm around her waist.
Slowly, she draped her arm around him as he helped her up, seeing if she could stand straight. She rolled her ankle around, breathing a sigh of relief that she hadn’t sprained it. Other than some bruises that would show up on her knees later and a little embarrassment, she would be fine. She glanced up at him, their faces incredibly close as he held her, leaning against another employee’s car. She looked into his eyes, flinching slightly as his fingers lightly cupped her chin, turning her face slowly to each side to make sure she was okay. She held her breath as tried not to imagine his fingers roaming over the rest of her body, like her dream that morning.
“You alright?” he asked, his voice deep and laced with concern for her.
“Yeah,” she breathed out the reply, nodding as she pushed herself off the car. “I’ll be fine.”
“Here, let me…” he said, as he bent down and picked up all the scattered scripts.
She was grateful that they were all bound, otherwise she didn’t want to think about how long it would’ve taken to collect hundreds of pages.
He stacked them all properly, his eyebrows furrowed as he caught the name on one of them, his eyes meeting hers in surprise. “Written by Y/N Y/L/N, huh?”
Her own eyes widened in shock as she cursed herself under her breath. She hadn’t meant to get hers mixed up with the rest. She looked between Jensen and her screenplay in his hand, gulping slightly as he quickly flipped the pages, peeking up at her as the pages ended suddenly.
“Pilot?” he asked, curiously. It was clearly longer than a short film, but not as lengthy as a film script, so it was easy to guess what it was.
“Yeah,” she replied, huffing softly as she held her hand out, “I didn’t mean for it to end up in that pile, I was supposed to shove it back in my bag.”
He shook his head as he drew his hand away from her, smirking softly. “Walk me through it.”
“Seriously?” she asked, more stunned than before.
“Yeah, pitch it to me,” he instructed, shrugging his shoulders. “From here to my office.”
Jensen opened the door to the building, and Y/N began the pitch on her script. As they walked through the hallways, she told him the main plot, tagline, a little about the main character and what the world was like. She finished just a second before he reached the door to his office, a smile growing across his plump lips and showing off his perfect teeth.
“It’s good,” he whispered, nodding slowly. “Really good.”
“You mean it?” she asked, her voice low, too nervous to talk. She couldn’t stand to be rejected from someone she admired so much.
“Yeah, I do,” he replied, genuinely. He stepped into his office, and she followed. She watched him drop her script onto the table, his arm still carrying the others to hand back to her. “Needs polishing of course, but only after I read it.”
Her eyes widened once more just as her brain exploded. “Y-You want to… you want to read it?”
“Yeah,” he chuckled at her reaction, sitting down in his chair as he narrowed his eyes. “That’s how it goes here. I’ve always said I’m more than willing to help, in any way I can, and I’ve done that with anyone who works here. So, you’re no exception.”
“Jensen, I-” she breathed, shaking her head as she smiled, softly. He really was one of a kind. “Thank you.”
He shook his head as he looked up at her, smiling. “Thank me when it gets greenlit.”
Oh, believe me, I will. She chastised herself again, laughing lightly as she picked up the scripts. “Nothing less than top shelf, I swear.”
“I knew I liked you,” he grinned.
I like you too.
Y/N smiled softly and took her leave, closing the door to his office and walking to her desk. She placed the pile of screenplays on the table and slung her purse over the back of her chair, sitting down slowly as she processed everything that just happened. Her last boss barely acknowledged any of her contributions let alone look at her work, and here Jensen was, treating her as his equal in every regard when it came to work. He did that with everyone in the office, but they were all in higher positions than she was, but he still didn’t treat her differently. She was part of the team at Chaos Machine Productions, and she had as much to add to the success of it as the others. She loved coming to work, interacting with her co-workers and fellow creatives, and she was kick ass at her job.
And for that reason alone, she knew she had to quit the ridiculous fantasies about her boss.
It was just before lunch when Jensen picked up Y/N’s script.
He probably wouldn’t get through the whole thing in the time that he had, but he gave himself some time before eating to read the first ten pages. He found himself grinning like an idiot at some of the lines of dialogue, some of them causing him to chuckle and others that made him nod in approval. There were a few tweaks that they could use, a character beat or two that could be changed, but it was already off to a great start, and he hoped she was free for lunch so he could tell her that.
As he stepped out of his office, he frowned when he walked past her desk and didn’t see her sitting there. No container of salad or wrapper from a sandwich. He continued down to the break room, a smirk pulling at his lips as he heard her laugh from around the corner, which had the power to put a smile on his face instantly in the short amount of time he had known her. As he stepped into the room, it faltered however, his eyes landing on her as she sat with Caleb. Her hand covered her mouth as she tried to control her giggling, his shoulders shaking as he chuckled. Neither of them seemed to have noticed him as he tried not to make it obvious that he had been looking at them, busying himself at the fridge as he grabbed a bottle of water.
“Hey,” he heard Y/N’s cheery voice greet him, causing him to turn around.
“Hey, man,” Caleb said, turning to look up at him, “out of the office finally, huh?”
“Yeah, not for long,” Jensen muttered, shrugging his shoulders.
“Sit with us,” Y/N suggested, pushing one of the chairs out from the table, smiling brightly.
“Uh…” he contemplated whether he should, looking at Caleb as he widened his eyes at him, shaking his head discreetly. Jensen huffed, covering it up with a cough. He knew what that look meant. “Nah, I got a lot to do.”
“Okay,” she sighed, frowning slightly. Her nose scrunched up a little as she did, making her look far too cute for him to not think about it for the rest of the day.
“There’s a sandwich in there with your name on it,” she added, nudging her chin towards the fridge.
“Thanks, Y/N,” Jensen stated, taking out the lunch she had gotten him and heading out of the room as quickly as possible.
As he returned to his office and shut the door, he sat down behind his desk and leaned back against the chair, closing his eyes as he exhaled deeply. Y/N and Caleb getting along was starting to frustrate him, and it really shouldn’t be. It’s not like he could do anything about how he felt for her, not if they wanted people to insinuate terrible things. She had a better chance of avoiding all of that with Caleb, who had been at the company longer than her, but he didn’t have a higher position by any means. He was an in-house editor from the post-production team, and while she was the office assistant and writer’s assistant to some of the in-house writers, they were almost equal in the hierarchy of the production company.
Still, he couldn’t help but be annoyed when he saw her giggling at some other guy’s jokes, wanting to be the only one who made her laugh like that. He did rejoice in the fact that he did get her absolutely doubled over with hysterics quite a few times. So that was several points in his favor.
Points that he couldn’t do anything about.
Another day was over, and Y/N couldn’t be more relieved. They were a few days away from the weekend, and Fridays were usually pretty relaxed at the office, so she was actually looking forward to work that day. Jensen tended to be more chilled out too and considering he had seemed really wound up the whole day, she hoped that Friday brought him a little more peace. He looked like he needed it. She wanted to go check in on him before going out for a drink again with Caleb, but she wasn’t sure if she should push that boundary. Especially with the sex dream she had about him, it was probably better not to interact with him too much.
She would’ve much rather gone to Jensen than go out with Caleb again, but it was an innocent drink. She really hoped he didn’t expect anything, because he certainly wasn’t going to get it from her.
As she collected all the papers on her desk and organized them for the next day, she glanced back at Jensen’s office, biting her lip as she contemplated going in. She knew she had to, she wanted to make sure he was okay, as any employee would. She made sure her desk was clean before she walked in the direction of the office, knocking softly. She frowned when she didn’t get his usual husky but soft “come in” but knocked again as she opened the door slightly.
“Hey, everything okay in here?” she asked, peering in. She stepped in and saw him with his hand down, reading some document in front of him.
“Fine,” he replied, abruptly, his voice deep with a hint of annoyance.
“You don’t sound fine,” she observed, her eyebrows furrowed as she watched him.
He sighed deeply as he looked up at her, his jaw tight and eyes reflecting something harsh, something she hadn’t seen before. “Doesn’t really matter how it sounds. I am. I’ve got a lot to do, so if there’s nothing you need…”
She scoffed. “Jeez, what crawled up your ass and died?”
“Excuse me?” he asked, his green orbs dark, his voice just as deep as before but with a little edge as he glared at her.
She gulped, feeling her heart beating rapidly against her ribcage. The timbre of his voice went straight to her core, causing her to squeeze her thighs together. She shouldn’t have a reaction like that when he was clearly mad, but she couldn’t help but find him attractive and intimidating in that moment. “You heard me.”
“I think you better leave for the day, Y/N,” he stated, his gaze still intense as he looked at her.
“Gladly,” she snapped.
Without another word, she opened the door and slammed it behind her, her shoulders rising and falling as she breathed heavily, walking down between the rows of desks back to hers. Her chest heaved as she glared back at his door, but she shook her head as she felt her thighs press together once more. She didn’t know whether she wanted to yell at him some more or rip his clothes off and fuck him senseless. It was probably the latter, but it sure as hell couldn’t happen, as much as she wanted it to.
She supposed she really needed that drink now.
Y/N picked up her purse and draped it over her shoulder, glancing down at the scripts on her desk. She had written up the reports for all but one, and she wasn’t in the headspace to do it when she got home. She turned off the lamp and left them there as she walked towards the exit. That one script was tomorrow’s problem. She was going to go have that drink, get home and try to forget about the whole day, especially everything that happened with Jensen.
Though she had a feeling her subconscious had other plans for her tonight.

A couple of weeks passed as Y/N settled into the job. Everyone had been right about telling her that it was only going to get harder from the first day, but it was nothing she hadn’t been able to handle. She had fallen into a great routine with everyone in the office, finding a different rapport with each of them but still managing to make it all work within the way the company operated. She had fallen into a comfortable routine with Jensen, too, both working together on a different level, something that she hadn’t expected to happen with an executive producer of a production company. He was accommodating of her ideas, listened to everything she had to say before he gave his notes, and was just a whole lot of fun, as well.
He was really making it hard not to like him, but hopefully that was allowed in a friendly capacity at least.
When she arrived at work that morning she was hoping to see him, but as lunch time rolled around, she knew that she probably wouldn’t have time to talk to him about a few things. He had been so busy with one-on-one meetings with writers, directors and other producers on upcoming projects, that he had been locked away in his office since he came in at 9:30am.
Y/N decided that lunch was a good time to multitask, so as she ate, she worked on the script that she had been writing. She was hoping to have it done soon to add to her portfolio and start sending it out to different companies.
“Hey, you doing alright?” Sarah asked, as she stood at Y/N’s desk.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Y/N replied, leaning back in her chair as she stopped typing. She wanted to take a little walk for some fresh air, having been inside since she got to work. “Wanna grab a coffee?”
“Sure,” Sarah smiled, as she walked back to her desk and picked up her wallet.
“So, what’re you working on?” Sarah asked her as soon as they were in line, across the street at Starbucks.
Y/N pressed her lips together, looking sheepish. “Sorry, I know I shouldn’t be working on anything personal-”
“Oh, please, there’s no rule that says you can’t,” Sarah waved her off, unbothered.
“Okay, good,” Y/N sighed. “It’s a pilot, I’m hoping to have it done really soon.”
“Well, I’m here if you need another set of eyes to look over it,” Sarah offered, nudging her arm into Y/N’s.
Y/N smiled. “Thanks.”
Just as their coffee orders arrived, Sarah’s phone rang. She answered it and immediately looked at Y/N as the person on the other end spoke. With an “okay” and “yeah, we’re on our way back”, she hung up the phone and gestured for Y/N to follow her.
“Jensen wants everyone in the next meeting,” she explained, as they rushed out of Starbucks and back across the street to the office, an extra coffee in tow for the boss.
Y/N hurried back to her desk to see who the meeting was for, her mind preoccupied with other tasks and completely forgetting who Jensen was scheduled to meet after lunch. She flipped through all her files and cursed inwardly, seeing that it was on the one script she hadn’t made any pre-meeting notes on. She was really hating her past self for such a stupid mistake.
“Ready?” Sarah asked, as she drifted by her desk.
“As I’ll ever be,” Y/N replied, picking up her copy of the script, notebook and pen as she followed behind her colleague.
They made their way over to the meeting room, as other employees filed in and took a seat at the table in the middle of the room. Y/N made sure all the water jugs were full and then sat down to Jensen’s right, between him and Sarah. The writers of the script were sitting across from her to his left, their hushed tones discussing something before the meeting officially started. Jensen started speaking, and she tried to focus on what he was talking about as she wrote down specific notes that they would need later. She found herself getting distracted as she looked down at his hands, his thick fingers twirling the pen between them, causing her to bite her lip as her mind drifted off, thinking about where she’d like those fingers to be…
“Y/N?”
She shook herself out of her daydream, looking up at him to see his green orbs staring at her. He had always been pleasant around her, but she gulped slightly as she saw his eyebrows furrowed, a dark look in his eye as he looked between her and her notebook.
“You wanna check back into reality?” he asked, his voice deep and husky, his intense glare on her.
She felt her core tighten as she squeezed her thighs together, not sure how his words and his look elicited that reaction. She should’ve been embarrassed to be called out in the meeting, but she couldn’t be bothered with the way he was staring at her.
“Sorry,” she muttered, her eyes drifting back down to the page, refusing to meet his again for the rest of the meeting.
Jensen continued the meeting, Y/N’s averted gaze on her work allowing her to concentrate as he spoke and write down all the important points that he or one of her colleagues brought up. An hour later, he stood up and shook hands with the writers, chuckling at something one of them said. As she gathered her things, she looked up at him, feeling butterflies in her stomach as she saw his gorgeous smile.
“You alright, Y/N?” Caleb, one of her fellow employees, asked as he moved past her.
“Yeah,” she replied, smiling softly. “I think the last couple of weeks of just going non-stop have finally gotten to me.”
“Well, if you wanna go for a drink tonight and chill out, we can” he offered.
“You know, I might actually take you up on that,” she muttered, sighing in relief to know that there was something to look forward to after a long day.
“Great,” Caleb breathed before making his way out of the room.
Y/N was about to follow him out when her eyes met Jensen’s, his arms crossed over his chest as he looked at her pointedly. She stopped and turned back to him, standing a few inches away as she waited to hear what he had to say.
“Wanna tell me what that was back there?” he asked, his voice deep but soft. He was clearly more confused than angry.
Her shoulders dropped as she breathed heavily, shaking her head. “I’m sorry, I’m just so distracted with everything else I’m trying to do. It won’t happen again, I promise.” He didn’t need to know that she was actually fantasizing about him.
He nodded, slowly. He seemed to approve of that. “Good. So… get those notes to me as soon as you can, okay?”
“Sure.”
Y/N flashed him a quick smile before she walked out of the room, letting out the breath she had been holding since he called her over. That could’ve been much worse, but she knew that even though he could be a hard ass, he never did anything to make anyone feel inferior. She had a sneaking suspicion he could be a bit of a softie sometimes, too, but that was a side to him he rarely showed to people.
She had a brief thought that she would like to see what he was like outside of work, but she pushed it away, carrying on with her work.
Y/N stretched her arms as she glanced down at her phone, checking the time. It was close to 7pm, not too late to call it a day unlike the last couple days where she had been finishing work much later. There was still enough time to go have a drink with some of her colleagues and then get home to make a quick dinner for herself. She picked up the scripts that she had been reading and the reports that she had done for them, carrying them to Jensen’s office. She knocked twice, entering as soon as she heard his rough voice say “come in.”
“Got those reports you asked for,” she informed him, placing the scripts and other papers on his desk.
“Thanks, Y/N,” he said, smiling softly. “You outta here?”
“Yeah,” she sighed, smirking. “Caleb asked me to go out for a drink, so that’s where I’m headed before going home.”
“Really? Caleb?” he asked, his eyebrows raised.
“Something wrong?” she inquired, frowning.
He shrugged his shoulders, shaking his head as he smirked. “No, no. Go have fun.”
“Okay,” she mumbled. She wasn’t sure what caused his demeanor to change suddenly, but he looked a little upset. She was probably overthinking it, so she decided to let it go for now. “Listen, uh… I really am sorry about today. It really won’t happen again,” she promised.
“It’s okay, Y/N. Your first slip-up in the weeks you’ve been here, it’s really nothing compared to the horror stories I’ve heard,” he reassured her, waving off her concerns. “If I was too hard on you-”
“No, you weren’t,” she interjected. You could’ve been harder. She cringed at her own thoughts, feeling her cheeks heat up. She really couldn’t be thinking things like that around him. “Goodnight, Jensen.”
“Night, Y/N.”
Y/N walked back to her desk and picked up her purse, slinging it over her shoulder as she left the office, ready to unwind for the night. She wondered if Jensen was really okay, but told herself that maybe he was just tired. It had been a long day and he probably just wanted to head home like the rest of them. Being the boss didn’t always have perks.
But she couldn’t help the weird feeling that bubbled in her stomach that there was something wrong.
Jensen leaned back in his chair, letting out a frustrated sigh as he stared up at the ceiling. He was in way deeper than he was thinking he was. Before she told him she was going for a drink, he was fully intending to ask Y/N out for one himself, as a way of telling her that there were no hard feelings about what happened in the meeting. Hearing that she was headed out with the rest of his staff got to him a little. He liked them all, he wouldn’t be working with them if he didn’t, but he was hoping that they might finally have a moment to talk outside of work.
Y/N was amazing. They had a great time getting to know each other in the context of work, and the little he did know about her personal life (she was an only child, her parents still lived in her childhood home, she had a dog), was all more reason to feel drawn to her. She was hardworking, caring, insanely smart and creative, and a great addition to the production company as well as being an awesome person.
As her boss, he really couldn’t expect anything to happen between them. Anything could be misconstrued as him trying to make advances, and that was the last thing he wanted Y/N to think of him. He liked her already, and he wished there was a way to handle this without the implications of what their industry had become infamous for.
That wasn’t his intention, but as much as he had started to like her over the last couple of weeks she had been there, there was just no way anything could happen.
He had to keep reminding himself of that.
