An issue with the table saw spindle means full disassembly to see what’s going on. Bearing retainer came off with a hammer and punch, but needs a little more finesse for reassembly. Dubbed “Scrench” by my wife, I made a tool to reinstall the retainer and adjust it when the carriage is back in the cabinet.
This is where parts bins full of old tools and bolts really come in handy. Also, a 13/64 drill bit is 2 thou oversized for the correct #7 bit needed to tap 1/4-20 threads.
This side project is required to fix the table saw and partially inspired by Inheritance Machining’s latest video, in which spindle bearings are also a problem.
