:0!! okay cold-posting the scrimshawlets update is pretty slay, but do you take questions? I would Love to hear more about how they got pregnant, who the birthing parent was, any details you'd like to share!! I'm sure you thought about the mechanics a lot, it's kind of your MO (very affectionate) - @lord-emerson
I bat my eyes cutely you know me so well. I would never cast an AOE Mass power word Auntie/Uncle without doing my research! Doodles and info under the cut.
You are correct I did think about the mechanics a lot, so much so that when @zeebreezin and I started talking abt stirring this little thread up, I calculated approximately how long a h?man gestation would be (30 real life weeks; h?mans develop/age approximately 1.3× faster than typ humans) and put it on my calendar for late March.
Scrim was the one who carried, and in fact it and Shaw did a little shapeling-red science shenaniganery to get the ball rolling by turning Shaw (temporarily) h?man himself. They were not necessarily under the impression that This Would Work.
The scrimshawlets themselves were "born" on March 6th (a little premature, we did some dice rolling), but healthy! H?man babies are a bit like kittens, so their ears and eyes were closed for a while and they were quite small, BUT! Their arms were developed enough that they could pretty easily Grisp.
He was normal about it.
As for the twins themselves! Phoebe Grace Ellery Shaw is the "older" of the two, and is a little bigger. Wails anytime you put her down, wants to be napping in someone's shirt 24/7. Chloe Lyra Jay Shaw is a scrawny little thing, wants to be held but ONLY if she is doing the holding. Wiggly and squeaky baby and the first to try to bite someone.
The two of them are constantly either being toted around by their parents, by the Six Fingers, by the Rook's Wings, Nigel Marmalade or Laith Vainley. Given both the Scrimshander and Shaw's respective professions, they've got their share of enemies, but lucky for their daughters they are well protected!
Bonus Fun Fact! Facial hair is a natal trait for h?mans, and typically sheds out by puberty, though uncommonly can persist to adulthood. Its silky and dense, and yes this does make the Scrimshander explicitly babyfaced.
