Google spams

I got a mail from my team member, which was related to some electronic ic buying budget ..nothing like budget or ic was specified in the subject .. above all nothing was written in content .. typical informal communication .. the ic's name and other details were written only inside a word document .. seriously .. am being sent 10 mails regarding buy this Ic and that ic .. the worst part of it is .. it shows me ad which shows the same ic name  ...so I can clearly drop into conclusion that Google reads even the attachment .. is Gmail safe ? ..
