Recording some more with the S-Gear(VST amp modeling plug-in from Scuffham Amps http://www.scuffhamamps.com/) today..I used a different model(The Stealer) with less gain, different guitar(60's vintage Epiphone Riviera with mini-HBs) I went straight into my Pod 2.0 on a clean tube pre-amp model. I still seem to be having a little "noise" but overall very pleased with how the S-Gear is working out. The missus even noted how round the tones were ha-ha...:-)

My demo period is about to run out and so is the 15% discount so I better decide soon:-). This is a Larry Carlton backing track so it just seemed right to use a semi- hollow body 335 style guitar..

Lately I've been pretty excited about the quality of the tones from the Scuffham Amps S-Gear vst plug-in. Even more so when I see they are giving a 15% discount this week! Here is a clip I recorded in Reaper with a BT I had. Trying to give you an idea of the response to dynamics, right hand technique, and pick up changes on my G&L single coil equipped S-500.

Take a look at: http://www.scuffhamamps.com/  When I first listened I heard some stellar playing with very HQ guitar tones that sat really well in the mix...Smooth overdrive, dynamic response to picking, crisp tones, too and some fine delay and chorused effects. So I am thinking how many $$thousands$$ for this amp. I was quite surprised it wasn't a high-end "D+mble sound alike" boutique amp but is actually a VST plug-in that you can use with your favorite DAW. They also include a standalone version. While not quite a full featured package yet, for $75 the sounds the plug-in can create with your favorite guitars are really great. I remember spending $200+ for an overdrive pedal even more than 10 yrs ago.. so in comparison the great tones in this plug-in really seem to be quite a bargain.
