Fabian Sonder - Octavinelle

Behold my new son 😋 some facts abt him below:

An orphan and has always lived alone, with the merfolk taking turns going to the surface and raising him, making him very familiar and knowledgable abt the sea.

Was Leech parents' ward (still is but hes almost 18 so) and they were the one who sponsored him to get his education near the Coral Sea shores (bcs Fabian didnt want to move).

The Leech parents named him and gave him his last name too, his original name unknown.

Knew the Octatrio since they were kids (knew the Tweels longer tho and they introduced him to Azul), and while he genuinely loves them... hes bored with having merfolk friends and wants to know everything abt the surface humans.

Thus he let his admission letter gathered dust for a year until he enters as a freshman in the same year as Heartshackle etc.

Very cheerful and friendly, as far as Octavinelle goes Fabian's the most trustworthy and reliable, hes very mischevious but never harmful.

Immune to ragebait, only knows joybaiting. Will never take anything personally

Likes to lie and say that his white roots is bcs he's rapidly aging and is actively dying to guilttrip people to giving him any trinkets/metal things he wants to collect (theyre mostly useless bro u can just ask🥀)

His white roots is actually natural for his species (seagull beastman). He used to have completely dark hair as a kid and it continues to grow white each year! When hes an adult hes gonna have the proper seagull coloring!!!

Very athletic and hes BUFF. Muscle man.

His hair is rly long and luscious, Fabian takes extremely good care of it. Like whole ass hair care routine + styling his waves every morning. Its THAT serious

While technically a freshman he doesn't refer to the Octatrio with any honorifics since theyre the same age and basically brothers atp. They also treat him normally and not like a senpai-kouhai relationship (although Azul will pull the senpai AND housewarden card when hes particularly annoyed with Fabian. Does he care? Nope)

Will not accept monetary compensation, only useless ass metal trinkets/any memorabilia that has been withered with time and love.

He mistakes a lot of normal human things bcs he was raised by the merfolk (yes like dinglehopper and snarfblatt from the movie HSJSJS)

Hounds every human available for any anecdotes and stories, everything is fascinating for him and won't leave you alone until you tell him something new.

Might become a mini series since it looks like they’re going to be introducing the RSA boys in waves. How’s Miss Raven doing over there with Rielle and Minajael

After having her expectations of what "real princes" are like crushed by NRC, Miss Raven decides to keep them low when greeting the guests from RSA. "They're a bunch of pampered, spoiled princelings," she recalls Leona saying once. Maybe just as bad as NRC's royalty, she concludes. Worse? No, surely not.

But before she can even properly introduce herself to the RSA boys, Rielle (the embodiment of ADHD that he is/j) barrels straight into her. He's excitedly yapping about how he heard she's one of those land-dwelling birds, and how he has so many questions for her!! Rielle's only seen seagulls for most of his life, he's never been this inland to see an actual raven. Maybe one of his peers Minajael has to rein him in and calm him down, but Rielle just swaps to sharing all his thingamabobs (which, due to being shiny, catch her attention). They could also talk about music, since merfolk are known for that and Raven's an amateur songbird.

Miss Raven might be a little put off by his energy at first, but I think she'd come to realize they're similar in a lot of ways!! After all, Raven has a lot of the same eagerness and curiosity to her. Rielle makes her think of her old self, wide-eyed and naive. It's almost nostalgic. She'd clear her throat and offer to share stories of her life on land with him, if Rielle is willing to do the same with his life underwater. He doesn't get what's so cool about the sea, but he'll happily trade! Raven gets the sense that he'd believe anything she told him... kinda like how Ariel treats Scuttle like he's the Human Expert and thinks everything he says is truth. They’re similar in that they want to be taken seriously as adults by those around them, so they can relate on that.

Minajael is definitely the more level-headed of the RSA duo. Miss Raven isn't sure how to approach him at first--she's heard from Kalim that his relative is "a nice guy", but he's also got this slightly intimidating royal aura. She's a little cagey around him and he's aloof, the two keeping their distance from one another. Perhaps Raven happens to remind him of those simpering servants back home, so Minajael feels as though he cannot trust her or she might rat him out to authorities if he acts up. (This is supposed to reflect how Jasmine didn't trust Iago when he claimed to turn over a new leaf.) I don't know what exactly, but there'd be some kind of incident where Raven "proves" she can be trusted (maybe she mentions knowing Kalim/being his friend, or she helps Minajael with something), and that's when he opens up to her.

I think Raven and Minajael could relate to one another in that they're both free spirits who value their independence and freedom. (Think of the scene where Jasmine cuddles with a bird and then releases them from their atrium, or even when she poses with the bird with her arms out during A Whole New World.) Listening to all his stories about running off from his home and getting into trouble in the local markets... He doesn't feel like a prince at all to her (she quickly forgets that he is one), just a guy who wants to be heard and treated like an equal. And what Minajael likes about Raven is that she listens and doesn't interrupt or shoot down his ideas. She lets him truly be himself. I like to think that they have that Aladdin-Jasmine epiphany where they both talk about themselves and come to the same conclusion of feeling “trapped”. That’s when it clicks—they understand one another.

The RSA duo restore Miss Raven's faith in fairy tale princes 🤡 and she becomes their new bestie

With a pirating career of ~300 years, Captain Velehk Sain has ruled the Abecean Sea as its King, much to the chagrin of other naval forces who claim to keep her waters safe.

Even on land he mimics the sway and surge of a ship, but make no mistake, he can snap to steadiness at a moment’s notice. His hobbies include cutting down boastful fools, wearing the pendants of conflicting political factions to feign his support, and waxing poetically about futility while gazing longingly into the ocean’s endless blue. He heeds to no man, monster, or beast… except for Scuttle, his summonable and quite bossy swift.
