Summary:
Following the battle to free Xornoth and Scott from the clutches of the prophecy that hung over them, a festival and series of masquerade balls are held as a celebration and encouragement of international cooperation and friendship.
Count Fwhip, nervous to attend the gatherings in Rivendell, finds the courage to attend the masquerades anonymously, hiding his identity from even Gem. Along the way, he meets a mysterious gentleman who wants to court him.
With the courtship well on its way, the festival and masquerades end and identities are revealed, leading to Fwhip getting swept into a deeper and more expansive relationship.

Summary: Saman is one of the few nights of the year where the veils are thin between worlds and planes. Ghosts who are willing may come to call on their still-living friends and family - along with some less benevolent entities. Hosting a masquerade ball in the half-finished Crystal Cliffs Academy for Wizardry is Gem’s bright idea to keep an eye on a significant portion of her people overnight. It’s seasonal, good for morale - and a brilliant excuse to steal the Queen of Gilded Helianthia away from everyone so Gem can finally gather up the courage to confess something important to her. If. Y’know. Her idiot brother doesn’t manage to start a diplomatic incident with his two equally ridiculous paramours first.
Chapter 2: I am never without it (anywhere I go you go, my dear) Gem finds Pearl at last - and then finds herself occupied with politics, pretty women, and dancing. So much dancing.
