GIVE MAKA A FLOWER CROWN!

The day is warm, sunlight dappling TOO-LONG grass where Maka finds herself seated crosslegged a long- since removed sweater, nose (as always) buried in a book. One hand holds the book open, the fingers of her other hand twisting the ends of a pigtail be- tween scarred fingertips. Soft strands, GLOWING, almost GOLDEN, in the sunlight, a proverbial HALO about her shoulders, slip easily between thumb and finger, the action a mindless one.

As engrossed as she is in her book, green eyes fixated on the bold print of the WELL-WORN pages, Maka doesn’t notice what Soul is doing until she feels something brush against her hair.

Raising her free hand, brow furrowing in SLIGHT CON- FUSION, Maka gently touches her newfound accessory, a soft HUFF OF LAUGHTER leaving her.
